doodle commission for @nightmareworm !!
super goth
okay bye
HELLO, I made this drawing a few days ago and yes, it's supposed to be a Superperson and I know it's not very coherent because of her hair...the truth is I got the idea from a role and wanted to illustrate it. I don't take any of this very seriously, especially the lore, don't ask me what the lore is about, it's the most senseless thing BUT the important thing is to have fun.
Oh yes, his name is Lua-El.
Superman was such a great movie. It was bright, colorful, heartfelt, earnest, kinda cringe at times(in a good way), and so, so inspiring. I loved the performances from everyone in it, and I loved how the movie just drops you into the universe. It feels like A New Hope with the way it just...starts.
I think it's a very clever way to jumpstart a universe without having to do the whole "start super painfully grounded then work your way towards the more outlandish stuff" method that other "CU's" have tried, that way we don't have to wait 30 years to hear Cyborg say "Booyah" or whatever.
I love the fact that this movie felt kinda busy, a little overpopulated, like you're joining with little context, because that's how comics kinda are, and that's how the DC universe is. There's just characters everywhere. Never made sense to me when Marvel would make a "solo film" set in a connected universe but have nobody show up even though they all live in the same three cities.
I loved how inspiring and optimistic it was, too. I do think it's kinda funny that "kindness is cool now" bc like, no it's not, go outside we're still in an overwhelmingly cruel world. But that's what always made it punk rock, nothing new about kindness being punk. Not to say that you *shouldn't* be kind, you should. It doesn't matter the motive, acts of good are still a net positive.
Superman is without a doubt my number one favorite hero, and always has been. It's so nice to finally have a modern superhero movie that truly understands Superman and what he's about. So far we've been on a decent streak of superheroes on saving and protecting others first BEFORE aura farming and cool hype moments™ and less of the might makes right/every-problem-looks-like-a-nail-to-me type of superheroes. I really hope this is a trend that continues. Ok I think I'm done now. Be excellent to everyone you can, and always try to be better.
