Mark couldn’t sleep, so it was no surprise to the father when he opened the bedroom door that his son was also awake. He’d checked on Chloe moments before, seeing his daughter in a fitful sleep, yet it was the most that Mark could ask for at the moment.
Forcing himself back into dad mode, he cast aside his thoughts, what was keeping him awake though he knew the same thoughts must be plaguing Danny. God, he needed Beth now. Yet it was Beth that had caused all of this to happen. It was an accident, but it didn’t keep her home with them. Instead she was miles away, locked in a cell, while Mark felt the same. Only he was at home, however that didn’t seem to help him on these long nights.
“Supposed to be sleeping, mate. Come on, put the DS away. The game can wait until the morning, eh.”
