I hate it, but I love you
The air had a cool feel to it, especially for the summer weather and night setting she found herself in. It was comforting to her now, the smell and taste of the air were all too familiar to her now, rotten it was, she could sense the underbelly of crime that had made the supposed great city of Minecraftia sick.
Like an owl, Tawny was perched on a gothic outcropping, watching as the blue and red lights all converged across the street. Down below, were three men, all tied around a lamppost in the same thick chain. All in various amounts of pain, one had a completely broken nose, another's arm had been cracked like a toothpick withering in pain while the third was unresponsive. Tawny still glaring down at the three criminals, who she took down with ease, apart from the bat hit right in the middle of her spine.
Several MPD patrol cars crept alongside the sidewalk until stopping in front of the three tied up bandits, the several tools they had used to try and break into the shopfront were strewn about, the bottom of one of the drills still bloody as earlier Tawny had bludgeoned one of the criminals with it. One of the officers stepped out of his car while shaking his head. "Looks like one of the supers got here first," He chuckled while his partner rolled his eyes while reporting back it was under control, "Honestly, it's like we haven't got a job anymore," He sighed walking up to the perps, "We need some paramedics, we've got a few broken bones on these poor bastards."
Tawny still watched before a torchlight bounced off the circle lenses of her mask, with enhanced reflexes she shot her grappling hook, a small invention one of her comrades had made, the hook caught itself across the street. The officer watching stood in amazement as the human owl shot off into the darkness. "There they go," He said under his breath as he turned back to the matter at hand.
The super flew from building to building, just like a bird, soon perching on the fire escape to her apartment. Climbing through the window, she breathed heavily. First, it was here mask, pulling it off and shaking her head, her long golden hair clinging to her sweat ridden forehead. Without thought, she dumbed her mask on the couch before prodding into the bathroom, past all her work out gear, her punchbag swinging, probably just the wind. Next was her gloves, pulling them off by the fingertips, revealing her raw red knuckles. After that she pulled off her combat boots, her feet sore and red. Her suit came afterwards, ripping off the armoured kevlar top and then trousers, just discarding them to the floor.
Her exposed flesh and wounds stung in the air, all the cuts and bruises each telling a different story of beating criminals to a pulp in the low hum of the street lights. She looked hard into the mirror, Lomadia looking back at her instead of Twany, they were completely different people now. Lomadia was somehow a university professor by day and then by night was suddenly the elusive 'Owl of the night' or Twany, the vigilante that beats criminals to a pulp every night. Both disconnected, a split in the mirror.
Steam soon began to rise, the hot water falling down to the base before a hand moved into the spray, water caressing her skin as rivers formed down her bruised forearm. Lomadia stepped inside, her muscles began to soothe in the heat and moisture. Nothing felt better than a hot shower unless someone was with her.
Lomadia's mind jumped into itself, back a year. To Xephos, that name almost bringing tears forth. He was gone, dead but still breathing. All she wanted was him back, the real Xeph back.
"Room for one more?" She remembered him saying, "Depends," She replied not even looking at him before Xeph was in the spray with her, the heat from him seemed hotter than the shower itself. His arms around her, making her heart beat faster than any other moment, even fighting crime it never got this bad. Him being there was calming to her, soft hands running down her tired form. Compared to her he was so soft and caring, unlike her, especially now. Although it didn't matter now, X was the only part left. That psychopath killed two small-time supers, hung them from buildings, like what normal person would do that? His only goal now was to prove that Khaz could be like him, crazy, deranged. 'It only takes one bad day!' He'd always laugh. She couldn't comprehend it sometimes, how her sweet loving boyfriend could be X as well, 8 months it had been and she wasn't over it. She believed, she was certain that there was a part of him that was still the same. She yearned for him, needed him, without him she was empty.
Lomadia pulled herself back, her hair now soaked through, she then absentmindedly washed her hair off, sighing contently from the soothing nature of the shower. Then she felt it, another body against her back, a hand carefully tracing her shoulder before trailing down her back. Another day-dream of Xeph with her. But, it was real.
Her reflexes came through, she turned in a lighting fast fashion. He stood there, X, his scarred face looking down at her. Her instincts screamed for to attack, she did, throwing a fist only for her arm to be caught by X, no facial expression visible.
"What are you doing here?! Get out before I beat the ever loving-" "Please, Lom," His voice was low, not deranged or sly, just Xephos' voice. "I'm not here to attack you... I just... started remembering this," X said, walking partially forward into the water, his hair soaking up the water like a sponge. She looked at him closely, the scar on his face prominent, from his head down across his eye, but there were more scars along his neck, face and arms. Lomadia was speechless, he didn't seem like X at all.
"I- I don't trust this, you're here to kill me!" She said, though not attacking, "If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it before you got in the shower... Also, there was room for one more," His head hung back, letting the water cascade down him.
Lomadia was still in partial shock, this couldn't have been happening, "Just go X, you're not welcome here. Xephos was, not you." She said looking down, only now realising they were both undressed. "I know... But I can't just leave, I've thought of nothing for months... I share feelings with him," he almost whispered, the word 'feelings' sounding alien to him as he said it. After he did this his fingers traced Lomadia's jaw, carefully, almost lovingly. She just watched his movements, chocking up as she felt a flood of emotion, pain, anger, love, sadness. All of it one cocktail as X, her enemy trapped in the body of the man she loved admitting he felt similarly the way Xephos had done towards her.
"I hate it... but I love you," he said almost casually, pushing his wet hair back with his spare hand, the other still caressing Lomadia's face. "So, you're telling me Xephos is still part of you?" She whispered and X just nodded slightly.
Lomadia then did something unlike her, she reached up and pressed her lips to X's, her cheeks red and mind fuzzy, she wanted to scream, cry, laugh but all she did was give into her deep desire to feel any part of Xeph again. X was the closest thing to that. He kissed back, carefully like he didn't know what to do, he got a strange feeling in his stomach that made him fuzzy, he hated that as well but for some reason it was pleasing.
For a few moments, Lomadia was out of her nightmare and back, back with Xephos, happy and not in complete disarray. Pulling away she regretted and both loved it, then she was crying. Tawny was crying, her tears only adding to the water in the shower. X just watched as she covered her face and wept into her hands. "Lomadia-" He said softly but before he could say anything else she was kissing him again. She'd forgot it was X, he was Xephos now, no one else.
One hour closer to the morning it got, Lomadia lay undressed, the covers loosely over her form. Her head was swimming in a good way but still, there was a large pang of guilt and hatred she felt. She looked at the foot of her bed. X stood there, pulling on his trousers not giving her any acknowledgement. "This didn't happen," Was all Lomadia could say, how X looked at her didn't have any sadness but had a showing of understanding to it, he only nodded before pulling on a top.
Without anything else being said, X gave a final look before climbing out her window, gone without a trace. Lomadia lay back, her heart somewhere between intact and broken, for a time X, her enemy had made her forget how bad everything had gotten but now with him gone it may have got worse.

The L.A.L’s and Lalna’s worlds collide for a special colab with @randomaffection, creator of @asksuperyogs!
so this is like...Super Buddies..? Lab Yogs..?
We’ve been working on this for a little while, chatting on the side about how to do a colab piece together and what characters should be in it. One of us would do the sketch and general dialog, then we’d both fill in our characters and adjust dialog to better fit our designs of the characters and then one of us would do the backgrounds. It’s rather neat to see the two styles next to one another.
It was pretty awesome and fun. Expect more in the future, maybe?
(I’ll speak only for my side of the characters.) Unlike Xephos, Lalna would be completely overjoyed to meet his alternate self. He’d be even more in awe at the fact the man is a cyborg and would instantly set upon upgrading him with everything he possibly can think would be necessary for his number one new best buddy.
Personally, I really doubt hooking the ex-terminator-esk cyborg into the mainframe of the world’s shadiest corporation is the wisest of plans... Also, No L.A.L. It isn’t legal... well... it wouldn’t be in most cities... Welcome to Server.
