Wayne Thiebaud, Supine Woman, 1964, oil on canvas
The Resident S03E01 (✚)
Just an FYI for fic writers (and writers in general but I've seen this mostly in fics) -
If someone is lying prone or a character sees another character's prone form - that means they are lying on their front.
If they're on their back they are supine
I generally take a very 'language is all made up and evolves to take on new meaning over time' approach to life, but working in healthcare where the difference between prone and supine matter in regards patient positioning, has rotted my brain, and I've read about too many characters who are supposedly prone while on their backs.
I have mixed feelings about the book Gideon the Ninth but the one thing I love about it is the correct use of both prone and supine.
