Whiskey Bottles & Wild Flowers: Meet Rebecca ‘Chatterbox’ Wolfe

As the baby of the Wolfe family, Rebecca pretty much got away with anything. After Daisy was born, Ruth was told that she couldn’t have anymore kids, and as the couple tried for two years were blessed with twins. Unfortunately, she lost one and a couple of weeks later, lost the other.

It saddened John and Ruth to think that it just wasn’t in the books to have another child. A year later, after excepting the fact that they had two beautiful children and wouldn’t be blessed with another, a miracle happened, a rainbow baby.

Ruth was put on bed rest the whole pregnancy and John nor the kids would let her do anything to chance a miscarriage again. So when Ruth went into labor they were worried something would go wrong.

Rebecca Joslyn Wolfe was a perfect in her parents’ eyes. She was the pride and joy to her family, and from the time she could talk, no one could get her to stop, giving herself the nickname Chatterbox, or Chatter. In school, she was a little social butterfly.

All her teacher’s comments were, ‘Needs to talk less during lessons.’ Or something in that manner. When High School came along, her socializing benefited her. Chatter was in the ‘popular kids’ clique, and a cheerleader too. Chatter was also a good student, straight ‘A’s’ on almost every report card. Like Daisy, Chatter was smart, and had been accepted to many great schools.

As college classes started, Chatter didn’t know what she wanted to major in, unlike Daisy when she graduated. It took a couple of years to really find something that she liked, and so she picked Early Childhood Education.

Chatter was in constant communication with Leo. Every week a new letter, telling him about her days and other things she wanted him to know, five pages worth sometimes. Whenever Leo could write back, he did with fewer pages. She understood though, he was busy being a solider and had other family members and friends to write to too.

When the secret ended up being unveiled, that Beau and Katherine had held the letters from their daughters, Chatter wanted to finally get those two idiots together, she saw that after Cricket had forgiven Leo, it was like time hadn’t passed, they acted like high schoolers again. Daisy, Chloe, Duckie, and her had a few tricks up their sleeve, but after many failed attempts, called in the big guns; Ruth & Katherine.

The Mama Bears took charge and with the help of the others, had a success. Kind of. They confessed that they loved each other, but Leo couldn’t put her in the position of having to pick him or her family. She knew from having family members from the past in the Navy, that it’s hard to have a relationship when you’re so far apart.

John and Ruth had been through this problem and they got married at nineteen, it should be easier at twenty-three and twenty-four. Issues occurred and the aviators left earlier than needed, everyone was worried about what happens next for the young couple.

Whiskey Bottles & Wild Flowers: Meet Quinn ‘Daisy’ Wolfe

Quinn was the middle child of John & Ruth Wolfe, her big brother Leonard being the first and Rebecca, or Becks being the baby of the family. Quinn could easily be labeled as the smartest Wolfe sibling, being in all AP classes in High School and College.

She graduated in the top of her class and could go to any Ivy League school she wanted. Daisy knew since a young age that she wanted to help the animals on the farm if they got sick or injured, so when she picked her college, she went to study to be a Vet Tech.

It was weird being away from her family while going to school, but quickly got over it after meeting a sweet boy from her biology class, Spencer. Since that first day of class, the two were inseparable.

Spencer ended up dropping out due to family problems, but supported Daisy in her continuation of learning. When she had graduated a year later, they got engaged and a couple of months after, had a small wedding at the Wolfe Family Ranch.

The couple had agreed to buy a small farm house close by so they could still help on her parents’ land. Even though Spencer wasn’t a farm kid, he took to it like fish to water. He helps John around the land and office when needed.

Daisy helps her father around the ranch too, when she’s not at the office, doing chores with her sister and husband. She usually gets yelled at by her father when Daisy works with her husband, they get distracted easily and run off to be found later with jumbled up clothes and ratted hair.

A week before Leo & Rick came to visit, Daisy and Spencer had told the family and close family friends the good news, she was pregnant. She wasn’t far along, but they couldn’t wait to tell.

When her brother and his friend had arrived at the ranch, Daisy ran up to him and as she hugged her brother as tight as she could, she told him that he was gonna be an Uncle. Leonard, the dunce, looked confused until it finally clicked. It had the family laughing and leaning on each other for support.

Daisy nor Chatter knew the reason on why Cricket was mad at their brother, but they also knew that he was an idiot. As far as she knew, he said something hurtful to her before he left for basic. They always wrote to Leo, but never asked, it wasn’t really their business. But you couldn’t blame them for being curious.

It was a shock when Beau & Katherine told Leo that they took the letters that Duckie & Cricket wrote to him. He came home that night and slammed the door, which he never did.

Daisy was one of the first people to see the change of their relationship as they grew up. Even at fifteen, she could see the tension they had for each other. Daisy & Chatter always came up with schemes to try and trick one or the other to say what they felt, never worked though. 

It really hurt to see one of her friends go through a heartbreak without a relationship. She couldn’t put into words how bad she wanted to slap Leo over the head and tell him to tell her how he feels. So when Leo comes home this time, she teamed up with all of the Wolfe and Pruitt women to finally get those too together.

When I was younger, about tweens, my dad got us an RzR or a side by side and after it rained my brother and I would jerryrig a sled to the back of it with a rope and drive all around the yard & pasture with hills and bumps as fast as we could! We’d hear helmets but that was it for protection against the hard ground.
