6 and 29!
So…funny story. I wrote out these really long replies to these questions explaining my reasoning for some of the answers I gave…then the page refreshed and I lost it all. I think I’ll go into more detail another time, and spare you the wall of text that was my responses for a better time, instead I’ll try to keep it short and sweet!
6. popular anime you didn’t like
Elfen Lied - I love the opening to this show, but have found myself feeling really uncomfortable and unnerved on the occasions where friends have asked me to watch it with them.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - I get why this show is so popular and recognize its importance in the scope of anime as a whole. I still really find the whole series to be too overly pretentious for me to find it enjoyable, and a waste of potential for what could have been a much more impactful series.
Most Long-running Shonen Action Anime - Think like Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. I don’t actively hate anything about the shows to be honest, they just don’t appeal to me on a personal level. There are always exceptions to my rules of course, and I do like some shonen series. The long running ones though, with 500-700+ episodes, most of which end up being completely irrelevant filler to the main storyline…not really my thing.
29. anime that deserves another season
Fruits Basket - I just think that since the anime ended at about a third of the way through the manga, the studios should pool their resources and either make another season of this show, or reboot/remake it a la Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and FullMetal Alchemist. Those all did very well, and if Japan is remaking popular series from years past, then there is NO excuse!
Baccano! - I did honestly really like how this series came to a close…but I want more! All of the characters in this series are fascinating and unique, and I want to know more of their stories!
Ouran High School Host Club - The ending again, was pretty fitting to the show. I still want more though! There were so many funny, sometimes touching, and sometimes heartbreaking things that happened in the manga, and though a lot of the loose ends were wrapped up in the anime itself, I’d still love to see another season of this show, as it’s still one of my favorite comedy series.
Kino’s Journey - I just really like this show. I want to see more of it. 13 episodes was not enough for me. Plus since each episode can technically stand on it’s own (aside from a two-parter halfway through the series) it would be so easy to come up with more material, and new scenarios for the protagonist!
(EDIT) Princess Jellyfish - I can’t believe I almost forgot this one. Seriously, the story just kind of…stops. Like one of the main plots is sort of resolved, but Is till have so many questions about others! It’s such a fun show, and I’d love to see it continued!
