It’s about 40 degrees in New York right now, and if that’s not painful enough you can check out these 3 surfing blogs that will make you want to drain your bank account and head straight for the airport.

Primarily serving as a connection to the ASP surfing circuit, the blog highlights recent competitions and hypes up those to come. The website is frequently updated; filling up the holes of the off season with posts about philanthropic endeavors and profiles of adventurous young surfers. The blog is authoritative, yet witty. As a whole, it’s well organized and doesn’t adhere to the stereotypical surfing crowd, leaving out the surf jargon, vintage tinted photos and poorly shot videos of local surfers. The latest news, a twitter feed of top surfers and a calendar of upcoming events — this blog seems to have it all.

As you may have guessed, the Surf Video Blog posts surf videos, and that’s exactly where it ends. There’s little to no written narrative to introduce the video, so you’re going to have to use the headline to guess what you’re about to watch. But, let’s be honest, you didn’t go to Surf Video Blog to read or look at pictures. It’s made for videos and it delivers. From California to Teahupoo, the blog posts videos of surfers from all over the world. Throwing in a few tutorials here and there, the website provides a well balanced array of video content, but that is all.

Steering away from the sport side of surfing, this blog was designed to display surfing art through photography, painting, sculpture, video and music. The blog evokes intense emotion by honoring the artists who encompass the cultural aspect that surrounds surfing. The language used in the written portion of the blog, is a bit technical and direct. But, as it should be, since it is a blog about the art itself. Unless you’re an artist, I’d mull over the written and consider it a visual experience.
