ACL Reconstruction #2: 4 1/2 weeks post-op
I am now 4 and 1/2 weeks post-op from my 2nd ACL reconstruction.
I’m still restricted as far as my movements go. still no lifting my leg unassisted, still on crutches, and still no moving without the brace. My ear infection started spreading into my sinuses and my other ear, but after switching to different (and stronger) meds, I was already feeling better after a couple of days. I finally went back to my apartment an work at the beginning of this week which has been both a good thing and a stressful thing. On one hand, it’s nice doing something other than laying on the couch all day and I was getting anxious about how much work (and income) I was missing from being out for a month. It was nice to see my roommate after just as long a time as well. But, as nice as all that is, I still really miss my parents and all the help and support I had when I was recovering with them. Not to say my roommate isn't great and a huge help, because she really is and there's no way I would have felt ready to come back if I didn't have her help. It's just that getting ready in the morning is such a pain and sometimes a struggle since I’m doing it by myself while in an immobilizer brace and crutches. It’s also completely exhausting so by the time we get to work (at 7am) I’m already done for the day. I can’t wait for the day I can ditch the crutches and walk without them. I know I’ll be in an ACL brace for a good amount of time, but by then I should be allowed and able to move a whole lot more and not need so much help.
