everyone said chest surgery is like minimal pain and maybe i just haven't gotten my tylenol/ibuprofen routine down yet or the wrap is too tight and once i change into the compression vest it'll get better but i am in pain!! like it hurts to move my upper body at all!!!

so i said last night i got hit with more bad news and now that ive gotten more sleep and time to adjust.....

i had a video chat with my surgeon yesterday, and it didnt register that he wanted to talk earlier than what was scheduled, it was supposed to be 2 weeks after but instead it was one week.

they tested my uterus after it was pulled, and the damned thing was more cursed than i knew. it had cancer.

so now im being sent to a specialist near me to see about getting more surgery on my lymph nodes, and possibly taking my ovaries out. since he left them in.

i had a biopsy on my uterus before the surgery, and it came out negative? the section that was taken was clear. SIGH. cursed thing. so now that im barely out of surgery from the hysterectomy idk how long i have to wait to have surgery again. im guessing its gonna have to be quick though bc i feel like i am having side effects from swollen lymph nodes.

but anyway. 2020 is a hell of a cursed year.

one week post op - had my bandages changed today, and i'm recovering well

they showed me how it looked before they the new bandage on, and i am so pleased with how my chest has turned out

+ i've had this robe for a year but i almost never wore it bc it hid n o t h i n g. i can finally wear it i love life

Urgent? Have you ever been put to sleep for surgery? I may have to have this done and I'm petrified. Any encouraging words? I'm afraid I won't wake up again..:(

Hey there! I have been put to sleep for surgery several times: for open heart surgery when I was four; for wisdom teeth extraction six or seven years ago; and for top surgery just this past summer! Each time it went just fine -- for the vast majority of people it goes just fine. 

If possible, try not to think too much about it before the surgery, okay? You worrying about it won’t make it go any better or worse, so do what you can to distract yourself and keep your anxiety down. Trust in the skill of your doctors, and trust that God will be with you, watching over you as you sleep.

For the moment that they give you the anesthesia, what helps me is having a short prayer or poem to repeat during it. It can be as simple as “God be with me, God me with me...” or “Jesus, my hope is in you...” or reciting the Lord’s Prayer, etc.

A short psalm that I like to use is Psalm 131; as it reminds me that some things are out of my control and therefore I don’t need to worry about them -- I can simply curl up and rest in the love and comfort of God our Mother:

O Holy One, my heart is not proud,    my eyes are not raised too high;I do not occupy myself with things    too great and too marvelous for me.Rather I have calmed and quieted my soul,    like a weaned child with its mother;   my soul is like a weaned child within me.

O Israel, hope in the Holy One    now and forevermore. 

I’ll be praying for you. You’re going to get the anesthesia, and then you’ll wake up groggy but safe, the surgery behind you. It’s going to be okay! <3
