Arabian Dhows at low tide at Sur, Oman. The first time we visited Sur was not long after a cyclone had caused considerable damage to this coastal town in 2007. I spent the afternoon sketching the dhows in the heat of the sun. I was able to gather lots of reference to inspire me for a series of paintings of dhows, including one on gold leaf.
