FAQ : “What is a Bug-Out Bag?”
Essentially, a Bug-Out Bag is a portable kit filled with essential items one would require to survive for up to 72 hours; sometimes longer.
You can fill your Bug-Out Bag with any variety of items, but keep in mind the goal is rapid evacuation rather than long term survival!
Below we have gone ahead and listed our top suggestions!
First Aid Kit – This is an awesome tool to have, definitely at the top of our list. From mending small wounds to mitigating pain, smaller kits contain most of what you’ll need.
Water Canteen – We all know water is paramount to our lives, especially when standard sources are not easily accessible. Containers with structure are a plus to ensure they don’t leak or become contaminated.
Fire Source + Backup – From cooking to cleaning water, a source of fire can be of great assistance. Waterproof matches are a huge bonus.
Knife / Multitool – Many multitools come with can openers, pliers, blades and more. Tactical knives are great for heavier cuts.
Flashlight + Batteries – There’s nothing worse than being away from home without a light source. A flashlight is an awesome tool to setup camp and travel during the night.
MRE / Food – Something that packs a lot of calories and has a high protein count is great for your kit. Keep in mind, nonperishable items are always better.
Rope – Either rope or paracord will come in handy in more ways than one. Tying, securing, carrying and much more can all be achieved using a standard rope.
Walkie Talkies – Last but not least on our small list of recommendations are Walkie Talkies. These are awesome for close range communication and keeping in touch with others.
