Wild wasabi:
This place is in a shopping square that overall had a sad look. Pretty bare parking lot, grocery outlet, a Best Buy outlet that looks like a post apocalyptic laundromat and an Asian buffet. But at least there’s plenty of free parking!
What is nice though is that the sign stands out against this bleak background. Is happy and affable and green. It catches your attention, but makes you feel like the food might be plasticky because it is so peppy. I liked though that the interior was in the same spirit as sign. You know me, i like to be transported and get very upset when restaurants don’t make the effort to immerse me. I liked that they had music in the background, wish it was happened though. But I loved that on the large TV they were playing MXCs elimination challenge. Brilliant and gave the same vibe as the sign; kind of modern comedic cute.
Service was great here which always garnishes starts from me. We were seated right away, checked up in frequently, our orders were taken quickly and our food came out at a decent time, and of course our trees and soft drink cups stayed full. The entire time they were friendly to us (even if u was looking a bit homeless today).
The menu was very lengthy but covered all the Japanese classics like nigiri, sashimi, rolls, gunkan maki, donburi, ramen, noodles, curry, etc. they did also have alcohol here and dessert. It was a bit disappointing not to find more Japanese style desserts here. I don’t want to East cheesecake and tiramisu at a Japanese restaurant lol. But I did... :/
The food was plated great and tasted fresh. I liked the flavor combinations and the the takoyaki did not have a soggy bottom, which was a blessing. My baked salmon roll was a bit dry on the salmon I think, but overall a great time and I’ll definitely come back for more of the menu.
