Brighter Day Demo Review

So overall Brighter Day was a fun little trip.

Pros:

The level design is disorienting and encourages exploration.

The sound design is phenomenal. The chill up your spine when you hear an enemy approaching, the ambient hum of the environment, the subtle changes in pitch when you crouch or run. It’s all fantastic.

Interesting premise and location. This “hospital” has some nifty decor, and the long, imposing hallways make for some nerve-wracking exploration when you never know when an eyeball will blindside you.

Cons:

There is little incentive to use the pills. Crouching and running away worked far better for me as an option to get away from enemies, and the Monolith stopped them permanently. Some sort of sprint meter so people can’t abuse it would help to encourage more stealthy maneuvers.

The level design is far from bad, but the actual exit remained a mystery to me until near the very end of my playthrough. A few more subtle hints about where the exit actually is would help people who are struggling to find it.

Not enough Princess Axolotl.

This was a wonderful demo. I can’t wait to play the full game on Steam!
