What was in the deep, is now in the shallows 🦈🦈 Nancy Adams (Blake Lively) travels to a secluded beach. Despite the danger of surfing alone, Nancy decides to soak up the sun and hit the waves. Suddenly, a great white shark attacks, forcing her to swim to a giant rock for safety. Left injured and stranded 200 no yards from shore, the frightened young woman must fight for her life as the deadly predator circles her in its feeding ground. After experiencing the Shallows I was quite surprised on how much I enjoyed it, taking out the context, the film attempts to bring a depth a realisim towards the physics of the shark, through most part of the film anyway. The finale however falls into the OTT cliché on how to kill the shark. Apart from that, the machanics feel like a real animal and not a cgi creation. Performance wise, Blake Lively is practically the only character within the film, so it's easy to say she carrys the film well and brings a great weight to her character Nancy, we learn about her character and drives and its quite easily to bond and relate to her. Overall the film has its flaws particularly due to its finale but its not enough to ruin the film, with a strong female lead, great cinematography and fantastic cgi (most part) of the shark itself. The Shallows is a nice surprise to view on a Sunday night. 7/10 ~Mr Myers #moviereviews #movietime🎥🎬 #moviereviewtime #thrillermovies #suspensefilms #theshallows2016 #blakelively #greatwhiteshark https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ97HZOs7bm/?utm_medium=tumblr
THE WRONG MAN / 1956 / ALFRED HITCHCOCK
THE WRONG MAN / 1956 / ALFRED HITCHCOCK
In terms of unfair premises ... Hitchcock knows how to alter us, this film navigates uncertainty, injustice, rumors, mistakes, value judgments, vulnerability to the search for the truth, the false positive, the judicial and police system , the mistakes. Wrong man is a masterpiece, one of my favorites in suspense, with Mr. actor Henry Fonda bearing guilt, enduring the law and society that brand him a thief, they take him to jail, he loses contact with his family, he has to endure the gaze of other people to be able to show themselves free, without guilt. From then on they will see tears and broken glass in the montage that match the narrative of Hitchcock and the universe that he offers us, enrages, hurts. All the visual treatment to consider ourselves part of a burden, the greatest, injustice. In his first scenes, Hitchcock, already being a great in the cinema, warns that what we will see is a jewel of suspense, it is! tear your garments with this.
There Will Be Lots of Freaking Blood.
QT And PT Anderson are the masters of suspense, tension, acting, story and mega FREAKOUTS. They are the pinnacle auteurs when it comes to blending all these elements seamlessly.
Both of their movies this last year -- "The Master" by PTA and "Django Unchained" by OT -- received critically acclaim. Here's a video with a short look at their genius.
