The Demands

January 8, 2016
Susquehanna University Selinsgrove, PA 17870
President Lemons and Susquehanna University Administration;
In the more than five decades that have passed since the first African-American graduate of Susquehanna University set foot campus, remarkably little has changed. Even with that man serving as a Trustee we, as black students are still somehow out of place at Susquehanna.
We take most of our classes with professors who do not look like us and do not understand the African American/Black experience. We endure numerous micro-aggressions every day--we are expected to speak for all people of color, we are often the only Black person in a class, we are subjected to overhearing racist remarks by students and professors.
It is time for the Susquehanna University Administration to step up and and seriously address campus racial tensions and the lack of racial diversity SU.
Therefore, we demand that the Administration do the following:
1. Faculty
Increase the percentage of African American tenured/tenure track faculty to at least 13% of the total full-time faculty by September 1, 2020
. The President, Provost and VP of Finance will develop a plan to recruit, hire, and retain African American professors to achieve this goal. The plan will include intermediate benchmarks. These administrators must then be held accountable if any benchmark or goal is not met.
2. Training
Many Susquehanna University faculty, staff, and students lack a basic understanding of what racism is and how it manifests on a daily basis. Susquehanna will mandate that all faculty, staff and students receive basic cultural competency training in the form of the Undoing Racism® Workshop (or similar program) during their first year at SU. All current faculty, staff, and students must complete the training within two years.
3. Academic Courses
As an institution of higher education, we expect Susquehanna University to use current faculty and hire additional faculty to
teach classes that will address the structural racism which exists on campus and in the surrounding communities.
Susquehanna will fill the recently vacated position of Associate Professor of African History with an open rank search to fill it by September 1, 2017.
Susquehanna will create and staff a Department of Africana Studies which will focus on the study of the experiences of the people of Africa and the African diaspora. This department will be interdisciplinary in nature and comprised of scholars in such disciplines as history, political science, economics, literature, philosophy, sociology, and psychology.
4. Student Recruiting/Retention
Susquehanna University has not taken the steps necessary to make itself attractive to all the talented and qualified Students of Color who attend college each year. The Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing at Susquehanna University will develop a plan to:
Recruit at more locations where there are African American students shift some resources from rural New England to places like Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Newark, NYC, and predominately black high schools.
Hire more African Americans to the admissions recruitment team.
Develop targeted financial aid and scholarship programs to increase enrollment of African Americans and other people of color . This should also include a fund to support first-generation, low-income, and undocumented students.
Increase the number of Students of Color who lead campus tours.
Susquehanna University must come up with a comprehensive plan to address these demands and a plan to achieve the changes outlined above and announce it publicly by 5:00 pm on March 1, 2016
Sincerely,
#ConcernedStudent1964 @CS_1964_SU
susqu said: I agree with you and think that for some dogs prong collars can be totally unnecessary and may do more bad than good when used wrong. But unfortunately I feel that unless you can share valid statistics/research to back you up, he won’t listen :(
I mean my only info that I have against them is that they can cause neck/spine damage, but that’s the same as for traditional collars as well. I just feel like you should use the minimal amount of force possible and keep your dog as comfy as you can while training it, which a “prong collars for every dog” type of approach doesn’t work towards. Definitely a good point though, and yeah I don’t think he’d actually listen/care bc he thinks he’s Mr. Big Badass Dog Trainer and I’m some little street child seeking his great and powerful wisdom.

Hello everyone,
I was just curious if anyone else here likes clubbing. I usually go clubbing like once every two weeks but I wanna start going more often. It’s a lot of fun so I’m looking to get a group of like 5-10 people together who wanna go with me even if you’ve never gone before. If you don’t have the proper equipment I can get you some so it’s cool. Personally, I like to club baby seals but we can club whatever you guys want. Hmu if interested.
Proper equipment?

For the anon wanting bigger boobs: First, you are only 15 and your body is still changing! When I was your age (I’m now 22) I didn’t like my barely A cup breasts either, but I’m thin so I kinda understood it. Bras can make a huge difference, you might actual be a B cup to some bras, as I learnt I was at 19. So be patient and let your body grow. Some boys at 15 are very immature (as are some girls), you’re still so young. You don’t want to be with a guy who sees your boobs as such a big deal. He should like you for you, right? If he actually likes you and he is a good, mature guy - your boobs will not matter! And every guy has their preferences: some like small, some big boobs (although it may SEEM that so many young guys like the same thing, it may also just be easier for them to go with the flow at that age). My boyfriend grew up around big boobs (hah) and all of his previous girlfriends had gotten bigger boobs with surgery (it’s the norm in the country), but he says he actually loves my “cute” small boobs now (but I’m SO glad he didn’t start dating me three years go only because of my boobs - anyhow boobs won’t look the same when you’re 20 or 60 years old. If he had said on our first dates that he liked my boobs instead of my humor, I would’ve stopped dating there). I had a surgery because of a large lump in my other breast. I was so happy having him supporting me, and as I was scared of the end result myself, he was telling me how me being healty was the most important thing to him, not how my breast would look like. Now I love my boobs as they are, I love the fact that they are healthy and I try to keep taking good care of them. What I’m trying to say is, give yourself and your body some time. Never change yourself because other people have other preferences or don’t like your body. 15 is such a young age and your way thinking can change so much over time, don’t make any quick decisions (18 is still quite young in a way as is 22). Why not try to think in a positive way about your body? Bigger or smaller boobs, they are all beautiful. :)
