It seems like the camera angles/subject matter have gotten more direct as AOJE has gone on--was that a necessary evil (i.e., at some point we need to show important scenes in full instead of in fragments), or is it more about Jane getting more forthright and hiding less (and the Gothic vibe being less necessary outside Thornfield)? I love getting to see more, but I've also loved how there seems to be so much going on just off camera--it makes the AOJE world seem bigger somehow. (Love the show!)
This is more a question for Nessa. But I pretty much have a psychic connection with her at this point - so my guess is the answer is: Both. It would be impossible to have everything happen offstage. Jane Eyre just has too many physical plot points. Now that I think about it, we chose to be very Greek about it. All injuries happened off-stage. But due to the sheer amount of information that needed to be conveyed - you had to witness the crucial conversations. And then Jane’s relationship with the camera is whole other thing. Because the audience is like her replacement family, and it is comforting, and as she comes under more emotional pressure she starts leaving it on a lot of the time while doing mundane things like reading, or blogging. As a security blanket. But yeah - Nessa can probably tell you more about camera angles and other things?
