TROPICAL STORM/HURRICANE ETA This has been a harrowing experience. Although local mariners prepped, Eta showed up a few hours earlier than expected and bit a few of us. Several boats were grounded, sank or destroyed completely. I broke anchor at about 9 pm...so close to the end. Tried to drop 2nd anchor but was already too close to the seawall by the time I got it down. As I bashed against the seawall in hurricane wind, I put a msg in our local emergency chat then got on deck and started trying to put fenders out. Six of our BCMA boys hightailed it from Gulfport and helped get fenders and cushions between the boat and the concrete wall and lashed the boat to the palms. Heroes. This morning, I was sitting calmly aside the seawall alive and well in shallow water with a rocky bottom. Boat is OK. Bernadette is OK. Had towboat come out at first high tide. Got her heeled over and moved a few feet...but we didn't get her out. So now I sit heeled over in shallow water looking like a derelict. Inside is trashed...everything chucked to port side when we heeled. Everything still soaked from the storm. My son picked up my dog and is babysitting her. I'm on the boat and at a loss until we figure out how to get it out. I'm staying here to keep the thieves at bay...they've already begun circling not realizing anyone is aboard. Anyone in the area with a really big power boat can become my new best friend. Need help. I'm wiped out and need sleep.
