My gosh, my little show is back, the good old SVU is back! This episode was absolutely bananas. I didn’t see that plot twist coming, and that makes me so happy. I was so tired of the previous season’s laziness, with episodes where you could clock the perp a mile away.

My beautiful Rollins is back, and she’s as amazing as always. She and Curry make a great team! Bruno was good too, and Liv was so good.

Oh, and my sweet Rollins… how do you know orgasms can induce labor? From experience? Did you and your hot AF husband tested that theory with little Nicky?

And speaking of Mr. Rollins, my boy is so back. The Carisi we all love is soooo back. This is S17 Sonny, but in lawyer form, the same sass, the same passion, the same spark. He was amazing in all the court scenes: bold, sassy, and a little shit (in the best way). That cross was superb. He handled that trial with perfection. The case was impossible, but he gave a master class in that courtroom. I’m just so happy, because that character is incredible and deserves all the love and all the time to shine.

And you know what the best part is? He doesn’t look miserable anymore. He looks like he actually loves his job again, happy, cracking bad jokes, smiling. And as the defense lawyer said, he had a twinkle in his eye. Gosh, please give me that Carisi every single episode.

Ok… that episode… was… something. Let me tell you what I loved and what I didn’t like.

We got a date night. An actual date night. In a restaurant. With Sonny looking like a snack. And can we talk about Carisi being the least toxic man ever? Lesser men would be mad about their wife being late to their anniversary dinner, but not my sweet man. He was actually happy that his lady was late because she was enjoying her job.

Also, the kids are in Staten Island. Finally, Nonno and Nonna Carisi get to spend time with the kiddos. But WTF with the writers and the second anniversary thing? The math is not mathing. I guess Noah grows like two years every season, and Nicky is going to be an eternal baby. Also, Kelli and Peter should know better. I don’t blame my babies, but please.

I loved that Carisi was the one who got the guy that attacked them in their house. I guess once a cop, always a cop. And it was sexy af, not gonna lie.

I have mixed feelings about the therapy session with Huang. On one side, I loved that he talked about her childhood. Jim and Kim Rollins, I hope you step on a Lego every single night. But on the other hand, these freaking new writers don’t know their characters. Rollins didn’t change jobs because she was running or because she couldn’t stay still. She left SVU (FU DW) because she chose herself and her family, because she chose to be still, because she learned she could slow down. Maybe the job in intelligence was her need to move on, but she did it when she was ready, when she knew her family and the life she was building were solid.

I felt like they were implying that she wasn’t happy, and I don’t know. She has worked so hard for the life she’s built with her kids and Carisi. As I said, mixed feelings.

Amanda going rogue always makes great television. That fight between her and Olivia? Chef kiss. Saint Olivia got clocked.

Now Henry. In a season with very underwhelming villains, I really thought Messner was going to be the villain of the season, and honestly it was just so… pathetic. They could have done so many things with him. I’m sad they went that way. I guess we’ll have to wait for the Season 30 conclusion of this saga.

And I know this might be controversial, but the ending was so rushed that it felt anticlimactic. I’ll say it. It needed more Carisi. If this is the Sonny centric episode of the season, I’m going to be really sad, because he got like five minutes of screen time.

Anyway, best episode of the season so far. We got two Rollisi kisses, badass Sonny, kickass Amanda, and great outfits.

How excited are we about the next episode???? Me, I’m over the moon. A Rollisi episode, in S27!!!! Is a miracle. And the promo pics are insane!!!

Carisi is hurt, Rollins is so scared, and they’re color-coordinated. The sad thing is that they haven’t moved. Maybe now that they’ve suffered a home invasion, they’ll think about it.

I think I finally figured out my issue with how they wrote Carisi this season. It feels like they’re treating him like just any other ADA, without remembering that he has history with the squad and that he was a cop before he became a lawyer.

He’s known some of those people for over 10 years. They’re not just “his” detectives, they’re his friends, his family. And don’t get me wrong, I love seeing him shine in court and I’ve rewatched his scenes an insane amount of times, but something still feels off.

Yes, his overall vibe is better than last season, but this year he’s been so stressed, anxious, and angry that sometimes he barely even feels like Sonny anymore.

And that’s my biggest issue with this writing team. They don’t seem interested in understanding characters outside of Liv or Griffin, so Carisi keeps getting reduced to conflict and drama. But the Sonny we knew before this season would’ve gone to war for anyone on that squad. He loved those people deeply, and now half the time it feels like he’s just their coworker.

And Rollisi… honestly, what are they even doing with them? The relationship feels more like promo material than an actual marriage at this point. They’ll use them to sell the show, but then barely let them interact. Sometimes they don’t even exchange more than two words. I’ve genuinely seen divorced couples with more warmth and intimacy than these two this season.

And the thing is, I don’t want Peter to leave because I love Sonny so much, even after the character assassination. But I’m starting to worry that if they keep writing him like this, either Peter is going to walk away or they’re eventually going to write Sonny off completely.

I was so excited to have strong court scenes back because some of his scenes this season have been incredible. But not at the cost of losing everything that made Carisi feel like Carisi in the first place. If the plan is to strip away his warmth, his relationships, and his personality just to make him like any other stressed ADA, then honestly… maybe it’s better to let him go.
