okay so first of, I am so so so very terribly sorry that this is eons late. Second of all, I know all this drama has blown over but it really touches me and warms my heart to see this ask, so thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! <3
Well, I had never even heard of Prithi until @padmestrawberrie was talking about her on discord and i was immediately like 👀 👀 there is a desi girl in star wars who was one of Luke’s canonical love interests and I didn’t know??????? I was SHOOK. So then I jumped into wookiepedia and read up everything about her and was just in AWE of her and her awesomeness. Although sometimes she does stupid things like being super reckless with her life and GOING BACK TO CHALACTA LIKE WHAT THE FUCK????????
I also read the comics through scanned pdfs sourced from the internet and like scans of their scenes together and they were so cute! They are definitely one of my fave battlefield couples ever. (also Leia trying to split them up and grounding them for fraternisation annoyed me). One of my fave headcanons is that they are the Rebellion’s Force-Sensitive Pilot Power Couple and that post war, they went to get hitched on Chalacta and both were active in rebuilding the new Jedi Order but like with more of a Grey Jedi style of ideology or something like the Guardians of the Whills or maybe something entirely new. Prithi also built an orange/yellow lightsaber that is EPIC. Prithi being written out was just terrible and makes me both angry and sad. Their parting words had me crying… “Won’t you miss it… Flying, I mean” “Every minute” Me: *sobbing in an uncontrollable heap on the floor*
I guess another reason why I love and adore the ship so much is because there is rarely any representation for dark-skinned WOC as love interests, especially in a major series such as Star Wars. And to be in a relationship with the protagonist? Iconic. Also this might sound weird or stupid but like it gives me hope that one day, I will be loved too and that someone will love me as much as Luke loves/loved Prithi.
