Miitopia Sure Loves Sun Motifs!
Not sure if this has been done before, but it's been an interesting little observation I've had for a long while now 👀
[This post has spoilers!]
If there’s one thing I pride myself on when it comes to Media Consumption it’s how I’ve found myself capable of Zeroing My Expectations.
This doesn’t mean that I go into something with Zero Expectations or think everything’s going to be garbage.
It’s that I can properlyt balance my excitement (Positive Expectations, e.g., “I hope my favorite character shows up!”, “I hope these two characters kiss!”, “Gimme a killer action scene!”) with my anxiety (Negative Expectations, e.g., “I hope the writing doesn’t feel forced”, “I know people are going to complain about _____”, “This had better not look fake”).
As a result, I feel that I’m actually a pretty balanced critic. I’ll watch something and go “Oh, this was great!” even when the fandom goes “What was that? That wasn’t what we were promised at all!” or I’ll go “Well that was...disappointing” even as fandom goes “Oh did you SEE the part where--?”
It’s just nice to be in a place where while I do care what the fandom thinks and how the audience reacts and how a story performs, I also know that it’s not really going to kill my enjoyment or opposition to a thing. My opinion about a show or story is the Correct Opinion, and whil eI know that that’s exactly how Bad Opinions happen...it feels different for me. Largely, I think, because I can compartmentalize exactly what’s impacting me in a thing: “You’re just upset because Luke died” “Actually I’m upset because he didn’t use the green lightsaber, if we’re going to be 1000% honest and petty, that’s seriously it, but that COULD have been counterbalanced by a decent story or a lack of racism--”...that’s how it goes.
That being said, I am hyped for Dominion because I see ambition and potentiali. It’s not combining the two trilogies in some Major Crossover Event like Endgame or just bringing the old characters back to kill them off one by one like Star Wars...it feels like they’re legitimately trying to Wrap It All Up In a Grand Finale. Is it overreaching? Probably.
Am I gonna be in the theater seat, mask on, on Opening Night?
I guarantee it.

Okay so I know that zombies is a side mode, but I really wish that there was a separate tag for it on AO3. It would be so much easier to be able to look specifically for CoD zombies content, instead of having to go through individual character tags
