A little more lore that I had stored
But I have to clarify instead of debt the happy crew were hired as a program of reinsertion to society for people with criminal charges
Between your swap Teruya and Swapcorp Teruya who do YOU think, is more evil?
Signed
-The robot with the buns
Genuinely such a hard question like??
In one side is shitty Ceo that brainwashed his workers to show his company is about "redemption" and shaped a woman into becoming something she would despite with his twisted affection and downright manipulation, on the other side is a guy who betrayed the foundation he worked for and roped some 20 something year olds into organizing a killing game all so he could bring back the man he blamed for his own madness and kill him himself.
Deadass i think they might be equally awful, just in different fronts? Especially since Swapcorp Teruya has a good reputation but it's absolutely rotten underneath while Voidswap Teruya ruined the good image he had when he betrayed literally everyone he knew.
PLEASEEE TELL ME YOU GONNA MAKE MORE SWAPCORE VOID STUFF IT SEEMS SO COOL
SWAP CORP IS MY TAKE OK A SWAP VOID
The original void is a cult that works on faith and desperation for a promised luck they need to continue to live
Swap corp is an organization built from revenge that uses people who made mistakes in life to work on the ultimate revenge
In this AU Shinji, Yuri, Kokoro and Yoruko had somehow broken the law and could not find a job, so Teruya hires them to be head of his many departments, with the excuse that "everyone deserves a chance" it's the saying he sells to people to appear nice almost like a heaven sent boss
And Teruya, well. After being left out of the opportunity of working with his friends in the Kisaragi foundation he grew to hate Tsurugi and Rei, and therefore Kisaragi, so after almost dying, and going through a maniac episode he created Swap corp, a company that consists in shops, restaurants, products, etc, that massively takes over the industries and in the process, tries to be "better" than Kisaragi foundation. He uses many strategies to badmouth them, mainly using pop culture, gossip, publicity, etc. And unfortunately because he is a good sales man, it works
One of the things I like to explore with Swap corp(my own version of voidswap) Teruya is the concept of self exploitation he does with the image of "Immigrant who want to fulfill the American dream and share it with the world". In my au Teruya is lasian (latino+asian) but he's one or the other depending on convenience, and sometimes even none, he hides his accent with a strong general speaking voice, laughs at despectivo jokes regarding his culture or even he jokes about how weird or off-putting he can be, as a way to control his perspective to the world.
Nobody will tell them how he is or dictate the jokes other than him. In one way that's hurtful because he allows people to make fun of cultures, but he will use that pain to get them to come to him, buy his products, work for him, he "shoots the weapon that hurts to then sell the bandage". His charisma knows no limits but also no boundaries, because controversial words and shock sells, and he knows how to sell.
Something that I highlight a lot on Swapcorp is identity, one's self is the most important thing to protect and showcase. And what Teruya does in this AU is he kills the identity of everyone around him, the happy crew and Rei.
He turned the happy crew, a group of people who wished to re-enter society after committing not so horrible crimes, but crimes nonetheless, into mindless mascots for his departments that do nothing but say yes to him and be happy 24/7. He stole them away from their homes, and lives before Swap and turned them into workers, not people.
And then there's Rei, someone who unfortunately felt guilty for treating Teruya poorly over the years, and like a moth into a flame she burned herself. Teruya didn't kill her, or hurt her in any form, but he killed her identity. Her self, what makes Rei Mekaru, Rei Mekaru vanished and what's left is a mindless obedient pretty woman, something the real Rei would despise.
Teruya doesn't hurt people physically, he degrades them slowly into becoming something they don't like, but can't really stop doing. There's nothing worse than losing your identity, because you can't come back then, come back to what? There's nothing to return to. Nothing.
If Swapcorp Rei and Teruya had a child how fucked up would this hypothetical baby have become being in such an unhappy family and by Teruya out of all people
It would be horrible
But Teruya wouldn't be such a bad father, maybe not too present for sure, but would try to exploit the kid for public appearances and then leave it with Rei.
A kid would be salvation and hell for Rei, because she now has something to care for and protect, a reason to fight Teruya, but it also ties her up to him even more, before that she could simply gather courage and leave but with a kid she is trapped.
So yeah I don't think a baby would be good for anybody
are teruya and rei as unhappy as I think they are...
They are
But unhappy marriages (yes marriage) don't sell well. And Swapcorp promotes happy workers, happy life
He must act what he predicts no matter what
