7 AM, Brand New Line-Up || Rapunzel & Eugene
The sun came streaming through unfamiliar windows and Rapunzel awoke in an unfamiliar bed, Pascal curled protectively close. Yesterday was a bit of a blur. Eugene had been not only pardoned, but accepted and given a room of his own in the palace. Rapunzel had wanted to share a room, but was told it was improper, which she didn't understand. What was improper about sleeping cuddled up next to your loved ones? Was it improper to sleep in her parents' bed? The answer, of course, was no, which only served to confuse her more.
She'd stayed up as late as she could, basking in her parents' attention. They told her all about the early days, when she was safe in their arms, and about how Mother... that is, Gothel had stolen her. They told her about the legend of the Sun Lily, which had saved the queen's life and granted Rapunzel her healing power, which was now gone. They'd talked and chatted and hugged a lot, Eugene included (though he'd seemed less inclined to hug the royal couple) until the blo-- no, brunette couldn't keep her eyes open any longer. Eugene had carried her to her new room and tucked her in, and kissed her goodnight, all under guard supervision, which Rapunzel had understood.
But now it was morning, and she was lonely again. Pascal was here with her, but the rest of her family wasn't. Getting up, it was odd to not have the tug of her hair follow her. She padded to the door on bare feet, then made her way to the hall, the palace quiet in the early hours of the morning. Finding Eugene's room was a little hard, given that she had little experience with big places, but the sound of him snoring alerted her and she quietly made her way in.
He looked so peaceful, sprawled out in the large bed, and she smiled. He was finally being given Flynnegan Rider's life, the life he'd always wanted. She just stood, admiring him for several minutes, before crawling into bed beside him and curling up against his warm, strong body.
