He cocked his head when she said that the man was going free, a tell-tale smirk tugging up the left corner of his mouth. “Darling, I hope you don’t think I would ever allow scum like this to return to the land of the living.”
It was said calmly, as he said everything, but the threat was clear. His kit was in the back, the hearing was this afternoon. It would take one well-aimed shot to the head when he stepped out of the courthouse, and no one would be any the wiser.
