Come and join us on this, our Great Swede Adventure! Take a journey with us through 100 films over 100 years. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll laugh some more, and maybe, you'll even learn something (probably not).
This is a collection of amateur parodies, made by a ragtag group of friends over the past six months. We hope you enjoy watching this as much as we enjoyed making it. Premiered at Tampa Bay Comic con 2014.
This is my entry to SwedeFest 11.
It didn't turn out as expansive as I had wanted. I really wanted to do two more scenes, but I just couldn't get the people and resources together in time. But I'm very happy with how it looks and I'm very proud of the response it got at the festival.
I shot this on my T2i with a 50mm. I used the Cinemorph lens filter to fake the anamorphic lens look and CineLook in FCPX to get the film look and color grade. The zooms were done in FCPX with keyframes. There's no way I could have pulled off zooms that smooth with what I have.

Swede Fest 8 has been announced
The guys over at Dum Drum have announced the date for Swede Fest 8. The popular film event has taken on a life of its own and Fresno is becoming the center of attention for Swede Festivals. A Swede is a short film that recreates a scene from a popular movie.
The best thing about making a Swede is that anyone can do it. You do not have to be a film student or have an expensive camera. All you need to create a great Swede is some imagination and effort.
The term Swede comes from the 2006 movie Be Kind Rewind directed by Michael Gondry. In Be Kind Rewind one of the characters becomes magnetized which inadvertently erases the video tapes of a video rental store. To cover up the problem they re-record popular movies and pass them off as originals.
