On marriage,kids and politics

Celina admittedly has become quite comfortable with life in the country.However that does not mean she wouldn't consider being at court more often. Alex her mother was a lady in waiting before she met and married her husband.So Celina has been educated on how to conduct herself at court.Being a survivalist at heart she can and will lie with the best of them especially if it means protecting her family from harm. In truth however and this will make you all laugh she's admitted in the past to finding lying quite tiresome and more of a headache than its worth. She has grown used to the freedom she has now being able to go hunting or horseback riding whenever she pleases.Her parents trust her enough to use her own judgement.Unless there is reported danger in the area she will often ride alone unless one or both of them decides to ride with her. While she is not foolish enough to believe she would be fortunate enough to marry for love in truth having her freedom taken away from her frightens her to death. She's heard stories of women who have been both lucky and unlucky in such a regard.Having expressed such worries to her parents she has been promised she will not be pressured into finding a husband. (This is one of the MANY reasons why on the show she wanted to smack the ever loving HELL out of Claude-no offense meant to anyone who writes for her please understand.It is just that to see Luc treat Claude so well and be so patient and understanding only for her to backstab him and still whine and carry on about Leithe....yeah Celina would give her eyeteeth for a man like Luc.No she really doesn't give a wit about the money and titles...how he treats others...to her THAT is more valuable than any fancy bauble or expensive manor) She knows any man she marries will expect children.The idea frankly terrifies her for the singular reason of her sister. Emmanuele. Having borne witness first hand to the madness that eventually has consumed her sister ;the thought of possibly watching her child fight those same demons and being so powerless to protect them makes her sick to her very soul. So in retrospect she would make an excellent mother this is true.Only if she didn't have the threat of madness hanging over her head like some axe ready to swing. In lieu of the two footed variety of children she has many of the four footed kind at home.Her very first dog was a wolfmix from a wolfhound her father found heavily wounded on the estate grounds before Emmanuele was born. Magda had seven pups but only two survived infancy.Her great grandchildren have run of the grounds now along with the hunting hounds in the kennels (Celina often got into trouble for sneaking the hounds table scraps) Iroas,Magda's great grandson is usually often found close by his mistress.Currently he is at home curled up by the front door or when not there he will shadow Alex around the house. His sister Nike has taken to both of the older members of the Sweetriver house to the point Alex will often just accompany her husband on errands so Nike does not have to choose who to go with. Lastly on politics;Celina is a patriot with a few simple personal views.Just because you do not understand something does not mean it is nesscairly bad or evil.Always try to keep an open mind to opposing views;to understand an enemy is to know one and potentially gain an ally. And lastly-never cross the Catholic Church.Her family have taken great pains to remain off the church's radar due to reasons she does not usually discuss.Thanks now to Emmanuele all they have worked for has been thrown into total chaos.

On children and family

Thanks to @alwayscalculating 's post from the other night some odd inspiration struck which turned into another little revelation in regards to Celina. At this point in time she is indeed single.However this is with well intentioned reason.She isn't nesscarily holding out hope for the whole fairytale romance bit. Being a practical woman she knows she will be expected to provide heirs.Now not knowing if there is actual madness in the bloodline or not,she is truly frightened to death of the idea of being a mother. Simply because she watched her sister Emmanuele grow worse and worse as years went on.To see her own children fall down the same path as her sister is more than she could bear.So this is actually why she has stayed away from court and such prospects.Better to have watched from afar than have your proverbial throat slit. This I had no idea of until I started delving into her head after the crack post last night so I tagged the aforementioned wonderful author to give credit where it's sorely due. Mind I never intended for that comically terrified face to actually turn up something!😂

Ok so here it tis for good or ill Name:Celina Sweetriver Aliases: not too many but she's been called 'Lina by a couple people Family:both parents still very much alive one younger sister (verse dependent) Species: 1/2 human 1/4 fae and 1/4 lycan (verse dependent ) ((for the reign verse it's human with witch blood)) Orientation :Bisexual Hobbies:horseback riding,archery,weaponry in general.Sailing and on the rare occasion poker or chess. Her story: Celina is the firstborn daughter of Lord and Lady Sweetriver from Brittany in France.She has been raised to have an unorthodox education and prefers to be active and doing something rather than sit idle. REIGN: she was quite happy in her life until her little sister Emmanuele was born.Birthing the younger daughter nearly killed Celina's mother and not only that the child had been born blue. When she began to breathe both her parents took it as a sign from God she should be special.However Emmanuele was prone to fits of anger and strange things had begun happening. Eventually Celina was put in charge of her sister for the most part.It was when she found Emmanuele performing what amounted to a satanic rite she believed what her parents told her. When Celina was 12 and Emmanuele was 9 the latter was swept away in the floods that ravaged Brittany.All believed her dead until rumors circulated from the French court of a witch with power who had entangled Catherine and Narcisse into her web. With no other choice Celina traveled to French court to discover what was true and what was lies... She prefers to practice white magic but so she is not left unprepared her parents also schooled her in the dark arts as well.Her father's power reaches into the ancient houses of Ireland and her mother can trace her bloodline back to the legendary Dahut. Various verses:Lycan verse:her parents are friends with the alpha (still in development) She longs to have a life of her own free from babysitting anyone and free of constraint. When not dogged by responsibility she goes where the wind takes her quite open to flirting along the way if not more fun ideas.

Headcannons and such

Ok will just kinda go down the list as they come to me 1)Being the older sister Celina has always felt a certain sense of responsibility for Emmanuele.She remembers her parents sitting her down when she was only 8 and her sister barely 3 and explaining to her that Emmanuele was not quite right in the head.As kind and giving as Celina was her little sister was ruthless and calculating. Even so knowing the secrets of their family and knowing that her mother's line reached back to Dahut and her father's side of the family had even deeper roots towards Ireland it gave her a sense of responsibility and purpose very early on. 2)Having this sense of responsibility to her family as mentioned above there are instances when she can almost seem....I hesitate to say childish but I suppose it's the best word for it.She grew up and fast not really having the proper time to know more of the fun side of life. When she is at a party and not driven by duty it becomes an interesting experience.Given time to relax and...well probably more than just one or two drinks you would not recognize her.She smiles she laughs she fairly glows with utter exuberance and joy.Much like how we first see Mary light up the party in season 1 is the best way I can think to describe her. 3)as for her own affairs of the heart...she is cagey and wary whom she comes to trust.Too many secrets to fall into the wrong hands and there had been still the matter of her sister to look after.She had loved once but in the end he had proven unworthy of her affection or trust. 4) For a noble lady from Brittany she has been given a rather unorthodox education.She has learned business from her father.First wines and then medicinal herbs which he procures from various sources.Often before Emmanuele came into their lives she would get to go to sea with her parents.Some of her most precious memories are of those early years. Her mother is no lady to sit idle and let men do all of the fighting.Alexandria actually was not born in Brittany but grew up there. Skill with a blade is something that Celina inherited and she has a great fondness for blades of all shapes and sizes.She has every now and again worked with their local blacksmith Robert to craft blades meant for a lady's protection. 5)as much as she loves her sister there is a certain amount of deep resentment there as well.It was after Emmanuele was born that Celina's life turned sideways and she was made into her sister's gaoler. It was only after she found Emmanuele cutting open a live chicken with a stone that she truly understood there was something not right with her.And why her parents had her watching.For some reason or another Emmanuele responds to her more than her own parents. 6)after the flood despite her parents placing no blame upon her Celina blamed herself for Emmanuele's dissapearence.Amid the torrential storms that plagued Brittany that year the pair had become separated.Celina had actually nearly died of chest inflammation (bronchitis)from wandering out in the weather searching for her sister.

A family curse

Word had reached their home in the countryside of Brittany late.Alex had worried and fretted if only for appearance sake.In the end it was the combined effort of Celina and her father that saw the former headed to the French court.

Celina had heard things while on the way there.That the witch Emmanule had been imprisoned on the order of the king.

Certainly not JUST the king though.In the circles her family traveled it was no great secret that the queen mother had dabbled in the occult.

And circumstance considered it was rather unfortunate that Emmanule had true power but not the kind being the firstborn had.

That was not something Celina chose to advertise for her family’s safety and her own.Already she was looked on as strange for her fascination with weaponry and sometimes when there was public punishment she would be caught looking for just a touch too long..

But that was not what brought her to court.She was here to plead for the life of her little sister.And she had been given strict orders by her father.If Emmanule had endangered them in any way she was to put an end to it quietly.

However possible.

But her story was a simple one.Her sister was fortunate to be alive having been actually born dead.Her mother took it as a sign from God that they should care for her no matter what.

Shut up in the big manor house Emmanule had been content for a time but when the summer flood came to Brittany some years ago they thought her lost.

When word had reached them of a red haired girl matching Emmanule’s description Celina had been sent to see if it was her.It had been her fault her little sister had been lost.

She had been instructed by her parents to have her taken to a nunnery where she would live her days in retirement.For being touched in the head as she was Emmanule could not be allowed to live at home any longer.

After all the strain on her mother’s health had been catastrophic.

Easy story and true enough to a point.

Celina wore her favorite dress as she was escorted inside before being left to her own devices.She knew to be wary of the queen mother.But truth be known the one she was both equally intrigued and a tad bit frightened of was none other than the lord chancellor himself.
