Ingredients: 1 cup granulated sugar. 1/4 cup water. 1/2 cup unsalted butter. 1/2 cup heavy cream. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 2 cups powdered sugar. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1/4 tsp salt. 12 cupcakes of your choice.
Instructions: Put granulated sugar and water in a saucepan and mix them together. Stir the mixture over medium-high heat until the sugar is gone. Stop stirring it once the sugar is gone and let it boil for about 5 to 7 minutes, until it turns a golden color. Take the pan off the heat and add 1/2 cup of unsalted butter. Stir the mixture until the butter melts and is fully mixed in. Slowly add the heavy cream while stirring all the time. Watch out, because the mixture will start to bubble. Keep stirring until everything is well mixed. Add the vanilla extract and a little salt, and mix well. Wait until the caramel is cool enough to touch. Melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter in a different bowl and beat it until it is smooth and creamy. Add 2 cups of powdered sugar slowly while beating the mixture until it is well mixed. Mix the butter and sugar together, then add the caramel sauce that has been set. Beat the frosting until it is smooth and fluffy. If the frosting is too thin, add more powdered sugar. If it's too thick, add a little heavy cream until it's the right consistency. The cupcakes should be completely cool before you use a piping bag or a spatula to frost them with the caramel frosting. Serve and have fun!
