Phone rings, someone’s nice Grandma is on the line.
Grandma: hi, I’m calling for my grandson to see if you have an positions available!
Me: it’s great to speak with you, Grandma, but it is imperative that person seeking employment calls for their self.
Grandma: I understand, but he’s been trying so hard, I wanted to help him.
Me: I understand! However, as we enter the grown-up world we all must put on our big kid pants and apply for positions on our own. That is probably the best piece of advice you could pass on to him.
Grandma: okay. Well, while I have you, tell me about the jobs he could apply for today.
Me: my apologies, but it does not work that way. I’d be happy to speak with your grandson directly!
Grandma: oh, well, he probably won’t call.
Me: doesn’t sound like he wants to work.

Me: please give him my number and tell him I’m happy to help him!
