finally had time to do my own @homestuckss! for @sweetjegus who requested some davejade and enjoying holidaytime treats!
@yunyin yeah!! :D made everything from scratch, patterns and all. @sweetjegus thanks! I heavily referenced pictures of the official one Pokémon Center released, since I've never made a bag before and only had a vague idea of how they work. It helped a lot to have examples of an actual bag to see how it would be put together in real life!
top five shoes and top five questions that don't have an answer
Just...shoes in general? Shoes I own? Specific shoes, or styles of shoes? Give me something to work with here!
Uhh...of my own shoes, I guess
1. Black and white wingtip oxfords (the ones I wear with my Pearl tuxedo)
2. Black pumps with a thick strap across the foot (I wear these with...everything, really. Lady Blackpearl comes to mind.)
3. Purple striped peeptoe pumps (I’ve never worn these with a cosplay so there’s no pictures)
4. Black flat oxfords (I wear one of two pairs of these pretty much every day)
5. Those ridiculous boots I made for my Mink cosplay
Honorable mentions: those really comfy black boots I wear with things like Lady Oscar, these really cute and comfortable white peeptoe pumps that I need to get reheeled, the murder shoes (aka my Jolteon shoes)
And top five questions that don’t have an answer? Uhh...
1. What makes a human?
2. What is time? Why does it exist?
3. Fucking magnets, how do they work? (Miracles. The answer is miracles.)
4. I feel obligated to put something cheesy like “what is the meaning of life?”
5. Why are your top 5 questions so strange? (I enjoyed them though :D)
10, 15, 20 !
10. Cosplay typecast(s)?
Oh boy. Do I ever have a cosplay type. The most succinct way of describing my type is “elegant badasses.” It tends to be either that or retro sci-fi babes, but I’m usually doing elegant badasses. Basically tough women who can kick your butt, are very serious about it, and look great doing so. Pearl, Lady Blackpearl, Lady Oscar, Eruca, Juri Arisugawa, Mireille Bouquet, maybe even Maj. Kusanagi or Ultimecia or Julia...very much the serious, sometimes even mysterious types. Usually “good” characters rather than villains, though also a lot of grey morality in there, and not a lot of protagonists.
See also: blondes, characters voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi (I can go an entire 3-day con doing only characters she’s voiced without repeat)
15. Best bystander experience?
Hmm. This is a hard one. At cons I tend to be so focused on doing what I’m doing that I tend to be oblivious to things that don’t directly involve me. Though there was that time when a guest of honor was partying it up in a hotel elevator and I didn’t realize it was them until seeing them in a guest capacity the next day...that was a pretty good one.
20. Name a cosplay cheat.
Two things that will improve the look of a costume by probably 80%: pressing the seams as you go, and having good paint jobs. Making sure everything fits well and wearing makeup also go a long way.
Not really a shortcut kind of a cheat, but you know. You can make a slapped-together cosplay look way better if you take the time to do those things.
15 and 46!
Hey, thank you very much! :D
15. Why do people fear losing things that they do not even have yet?: Okay, humans naturally crave security, right? I think this is related to that. We secure things in our imagination, which then create a mental security? So possessing that thing mentally causes those feelings of attachment. Our imaginations and thoughts are powerful, way more than some people give credit for!-It’s way too easy to love something that isn’t ours because we craft stories around it, write a history, etc. This can make losing something that isn’t even there so disappointing because we create those expectations. Getting caught up in this cycle can be dangerous though, especially when people are involved. Ahhh, this is a really interesting question to think about! ;___;
46. Can we have happiness without sadness?: Honestly?? I’ve thought about this for a long time and have never been able come up with an answer that I’m happy with. I don’t know… I think it might be possible? But experiencing sadness or any emotion really is what helps us to grow into a well-rounded person. This question always struck me as a chicken or the egg kind of deal, and my answer is pretty shoddy too, but hey, gave it a shot. “OTL
sweetjegus replied to your photo: Finished my Yasuho cosplay! I’ll be wearing this...
those SHOES are a masterpiece and a STATEMENT
THANKS
I love them.
allura, lotor, blade of marmora!
First of all, thank you so much for sending asks in <3
Allura: What would be the first thing you do if you wake up after 10,000 years?
Lotor: What would you be exiled for?
Blade of Marmora: Who has the best character design?
Allura: Oh dang, I’m not entirely sure what I’d do. I would probably try to make a friend if everyone I knew was gone, and if people were around that I knew. I’d declare us the oldest living beings and probably scream “YEET!” really loud.
Lotor: OH. Punching someone I shouldn’t have or making a really snappy comeback.
Blade of Marmora: I really like Coran’s design a lot. He’s very unique compared to the other characters, being one of the few guys who has a more square jaw, but he also has red hair, which none of the other characters really have. (I like ginger characters, a lot of my close friends are red heads!) He’s also got that mustache, which is so goofy yet so iconic. Gah, I just, I love his design so much, it suits him perfectly.

ohhhh my gosh is that skirt print the one painting of 'my wife's lovers' with the forty cats
YES IT IS. I love this painting and the story behind it so when I had the chance to put it on my body I was all over it omg
It was really cute today because there were a bunch of ladies ranging in age from young adult to senior citizens who would like... do triple takes looking at the print and some of them were friendly enough to come up to me and be like “CATS! :D” and then I’d be like “CATS!! :D” back at them and it was really cute.
