I am a meat eater. I love my steaks and my burgers. So, when #Swensen’s came out with the #impossible #burger. I was rather skeptical about it. After I saw a documentary on plant based burgers, this intrigued me and today I decided to give it a try. I must admit, it’s pretty good. It has the texture but not so much the taste of meat. https://www.instagram.com/p/B4hgii8hdcw/?igshid=1e0ajetnjiwaj

On Walking On, Cole Swensen (2017)
Rousseau: The Reveries of a Solitary Walker
“For Rousseau walking was a solitary breech of a rift of sky”
“Turned around fast enough to make the trees run // in the night, rather warm. And why not go on? // The first walk: the first line: that so alone am I who loved”
Walks 1 through 5
“And I suffered built of things”
“To have a body only audible”
Walks 6 through 10
“The rain. // Kept me in all morning among my hands.”
“I cannot begin to face, and so I am again a chain of events down which / and beneath which a river still runs in the dark.”
“You can see me there wandering, ecstatic / in the green of it, the grove of it, the mind.”
“confused his face with something seen or almost seen in a forest or only glimpsed / and barely with the sun always beside you always walking.”
“lies down in the luminous surface, the orchard of animals tied // to small sounds in the undergrowth that in their turn, turn away.”
Wordsworth (pg12)
“for the sake / of a landscape”
“Hunkered / woman, dove-shaped”
“neither heard nor herded”
Wordsworth (pg13)
“Rhythm as a mode of sight in walking saw”
Thoreau: “Walking”
“he often walked // for several hours a day, gradually becoming indistinguishable from everything / around him. If you walk in complete silence, other beings are not forced // to rearrange themselves into recognizable things.”
“he most clearly defines his concept of wildness / as a door within most animate things, he saw, or thought, a flight / of steps, that endlessly rising, the wild in body, becomes the self”
“in the body is no less vast against a sky they are trying to find / a sky they can hold against a sky that seems to fold.”
“as always / in pieces / he noted / the birds”
“he found distant rhymes / owl/hollow / otter/hour // fusing disparate things through listening twice.”
“The line // is always quietly an altered forest.”
“shadow / stills a breeze. The architecture of all living things is a cathedral of trees.”
De Quincey
“every face that you’ve ever seen is also your own”
A Walk on June 13
“the / light gradually becoming the lack of it”
Sand: Promenades autour d’un village
The Second Walk
“Insisting in detail that the beautiful is also real, often / accidental, often in the middle of a phrase, a street, a day, in broad daylight, as they say.”
The Third Walk
“a soul is perhaps nothing more than a splendid / view, one with horizon receding, pulling its thin line back getting thinner // and thinner as it travels in no hurry.”
“and so they rode // back from the village to put her friend on the train to Paris, having only wanted, / as she put it, to come to know one small corner of the real world.”
Nerval
“What is the wander, what aimless shelter, what within / a very small room.”
Walser: The Walk
“You walk the dark to recall / a specific point in an argument in which you saw something delicate / fall apart.”
“the trees that frame the door of the inn glide forward almost / imperceptibly or seem to, to lean into, and we hold onto the image, saying yes // we have seen this, and left nothing behind.”
A Walk on July 9
“turning / the face of the curb into a lanterne magique. People walk by too, but because they’re moving much more slowly, their shadows can’t turn them into animals.”
Burckhardt
“in which there is time coming / in at various angles of flat description against the soft sound / of something splitting.”
