My second posterized portrait, this time of Vic! The first assignment in my painting class was to make a portrait focusing mainly on the colors and value. The last time i did this assignment, i went with realistic colors and a complementary palate. This time i chose 2 pairs of complementary colors, peachy coral & teal and purple & yellow. The reference photo i used was black and white so i was able to use more unrealistic colors for this piece, I added some flowers in the background (inspired by Floral and Fading) to fill the negative space. This piece was put in a gallery showcasing the artistic talent of local students. Materials: acrylic on canvas board

I've been really into doing digital illustrations like this on my iPad lately. This took me about a week to finish due to all of the details in the flowers and multiple changes made during the process. I put the lyrics from the outro of "The Divine Zero" in the smoke/breath. The flowers and plants growing from the decomposing skull represent that new life can come from destruction. I'm really happy with the outcome of this, hope you like it!
