Your dad sounds so adorable every time you mention him

a short list of adorable things my father has done:

insists on taking me to the airport every time I leave after visiting. then he parks, walks me in, and stands at the start of the security line until i’ve made it all the way through security, waving and jumping every time i look back over my shoulder. i’m 28.

is contemplating building himself a papier-maché studio in his garage.

favorite movie is tied between Bambi and Casablanca. he cries at both.

is very color-blind and also a professor, which means he frequently leaves the house in like a pea-green tweed suit with a purple shirt and bright red tie or some other such nonsense and is hilariously flummoxed every time we catch him. “but i thought it looked nice???”

grew a beard specifically because i mentioned one time that if he had a beard he’d look like santa claus. surprised me with it when i came home for christmas.

spent like half of a recent family vacation at a pool resort just going down the water slide over and over again. he is in his 70s.

favorite ride at disney world is mickey’s philharmagic.

used to pretend to take naps to take a break from work (he worked at home) but would instead read harry potter. again, he is in his 70s.
