•• @hexalianrebel-blackfeathers I'm biased, but I love #6 (Cuddles) with Gwen and Hobie. Lee!Gwen is my favorite, but a little close-combat tickle fight would be adorable.••
TickleTober Day 6 - Cuddles
~This idea is so fluffy and I am HERE for it! I tried to make it super calm and cuddly while still having the “tickle fight” aspect included. Writing for these kids never stops bringing me joy. Thank you for requesting, and I hope you Enjoy! Happy spooky season, Panda!~
Switches: Gwen, Hobie
Summary: Thanks to Hobie’s chilly houseboat, Gwen’s freezing her webs off. Instead of just accepting some warm cuddles, she decides to be stubborn. Things quickly take a tickly turn as they both attempt to prove their point.
Warnings: none! This is a tickle fic, so if you don’t like that, scroll away!!
The weather in Camden, New London, was quite despicable in October. Hobie was more than used to it, but any visitors were doomed to shiver in his houseboat, huddling under blankets as they tried to act like the chill didn’t bother them.
Gwen was one of those unfortunate visitors.
“You sure you’re al’ight, Gwendy? Yer shiverin’ like a wet kitten in the rain.”
The girl rolled her eyes, flipping Hobie off from the easy chair. Gwen was, in fact, fucking freezing; the drop in temperature from her universe to his 40°F wasn’t exactly kind. She came clad in only her suit, which was likely going to be her downfall.
“I-I’m fine. Just g-getting used t-t-to your shitty ch-chair.” Her teeth were chattering, completely giving her away. Hobie found it quite adorable, though decided not to tease her for the moment; the more important thing was getting her warmed up.
“Sure, sure. ‘M just gonna set up a nest real quick. Jus’ because.” Hobie began gathering blankets from around his houseboat, making a pile in order of softness. He made sure her favorite one – a soft, crocheted blanket one of his mates had made for him – was on top.
Gwen eyed the completed pile enviously, rubbing the goosebumps beneath her suit. It looked so warm…but she said she wasn’t cold. No way was she gonna back down after that.
“Fine. G-good. Whatever.”
Hobie rolled his eyes at her persistence. Nope. That was not gonna fly on his watch. With a quick crack of his knuckles, the punk scooped her up into his arms and dropped her in the nest. Ignoring her protests, he made a ring around it with pillows and flopped down beside her.
“HOBIE! I said I didn’t need it! I was fine!” Gwen tried to fake anger, shoving at him half-heartedly. In all honesty, she already felt warmer; the nest was awesome, no matter what.
“Hush up, luv. I know you’re cold, an’ I know ya don’t mind this.” Hobie wrapped his arms around the blonde, giving her a squeeze. Just for the fun of it, he tweaked her side.
She squeaked, grabbing his wrist with a few nervous giggles; however, she didn’t push him away. Hobie knew what that meant.
“Someone’s in a mood, eh?” Hobie chuckled as she glared, knowing it was all a facade. “Guess I can help with that.”
While Gwen normally would’ve happily taken her tickles, she was still feeling slighted from the nest. He was absolutely right, but that didn’t mean she had to let him win.
Hobie squeaked, feeling a hand tase his belly. So that’s how she’s gonna play it? Al’ight then.
The taller punk attacked, squeezing Gwen close to his chest as he skittered his fingers along her spine. Hobie was still keeping her warm; he was just having fun while he did it.
“KYEEEhehe! H-hehey, nohot fahahair!” Gwen wriggled and squirmed as the evil fingers teased her spine; he was playing dirty! She wormed her hands out of his tight hug, scribbling up and down his sides.
“Grrk-! Good t-ta know I’ve got some cohompetition!” Hobie stifled his laughter, keeping Gwen close and warm as he fought back. They were both being pretty gentle in their efforts; it was more fun than competitive.
“Shuhuhush!” Pinching around the boy’s navel, Gwen did her best to make Hobie giggle. She didn’t really need to win; she just wanted to get petty revenge.
Hobie, on the other hand, was keen on getting her to cave. Leaning down, he blew on the back of her ear, watching the hairs on the back of her neck prickle.
“See Gwenny? Knehew ya were cold; y-you gohot goosebumps,” Hobie teased, moving one hand up from her back to flutter behind her ears.
Gwen squealed, falling into a fresh wave of giggles as he teased her. “A-ahaham nohohot!”
In an attempt to shut him up, Gwen reached down to squeeze his knee. Hobie snorted, shoving at her hands with a giggly growl.
“Ohoho, you done ihit now, ya shit!” Abandoning his calm agenda, Hobie kneaded into the slightly pudgy area beneath Gwen’s navel. It kind of spoiled his “relaxing afternoon in the nest” plan, but the sight it produced was more than worth it.
“HOHOHOBIEHE! SHIHIHIHIT!” Shocked by the suddenly intense tickles, Gwen jolted and shoved at her fellow spider. She kicked her feet, quickly making a mess of the comfy nest. She pawed randomly at his chest, trying her best to retaliate.
“Y-youhu still tryin’ ta fihight back, Gwenny? ‘S adorable.” He giggled off her sporadic pokes, doubling down on her belly. There wasn’t much of a goal to the tickles anymore; it was just goofiness.
“IHIH’M NOHOHOT! *snort* HOHOHOHOBS!” Gwen tried to fold in on herself, but only ended up burying her face in his chest. Even during the tickles, she still wanted to cuddle with him; it made his heart melt.
“Aww, hun, yer adorable. ‘Specially those snorts a’ yours,” Hobie cooed, kneading and tasing the soft skin. Gwen bucked, kicking a pillow and sending it flying at the wall. The punk couldn’t help the snort that left him at that.
“Does it tickle that bad, luv?”
Gwen wanted to punch him for that one, feeling her face burn. Ugh, those types of teases were not fair! He didn’t even seem to be trying that hard; she was just that sensitive.
Seeing that she was getting really flustered, Hobie decided he’d won; the goal was to get her warm. Probably.. He honestly couldn’t remember.
Gwen readily snuggled into his arms, muffling her giggles against his warm chest. Hobie just rolled his eyes and rubbed her back, trying to help her settle back down.
“Youhuhu…you’re ahan asshohohole,” she huffed, settling against him in seconds. While messy, the nest was still incredibly comfortable; it chased away the chill perfectly, though she was probably blushing enough to be fine.
“You know ya love it, Gwendy.” Hobie ruffled her hair, making her groan in annoyance. She brazenly scribbled down his ribs in retaliation; that wasn’t a no, however.
“Hehehey! Al’ight, I get it! No more teasin’, promise.” Grabbing one of the discarded blankets, Hobie covered them both and hugged Gwen closer to his chest. The blonde hummed as his strong, lean fingers began carding through her hair. One hand even moved down her side, tracing so it just barely tickled.
“Jeherk…” Gwen muttered, feeling her body relax fully as sleep creeped at the edges of her mind; cuddly tickles always knocked her right out. “..thanks.”
Hobie just smiled, offering his other arm as a pillow and resting his chin on her head. “Anytime. G’night, luv.”
“‘Nihight, Hobs.” Gwen’s eyes drifted closed, a sleepy smile still on her face as she nodded off. Hobie sighed happily giving her one last squeeze before passing out as well.
Neither one of them could feel the chill anymore. The houseboat had never seemed warmer.
