A Wolf's Motherly Love
Roxanne and Gregory have a special mother-son bond. They understand each other like best friends, they love each other like family, and they act almost like siblings sometimes. But, Roxanne is going to get the surprise of her life on this starry, starry night.

Roxy was sitting outside of the entrance of the Pizzaplex, looking at the beautiful stars with Gregory. It was a clear sky tonight with no clouds, meaning the stars were visible and bright. It was incredible to see, especially to Roxy who is almost never out of the Pizzaplex.
“I’ve always heard stories of the stars, but I’ve never actually…seen them before.” Roxy told Gregory.
“Really? You’ve never looked out the window to see the stars before?” Gregory asked.
“No…There aren’t any windows big enough to show me the whole sky…not like this.” Roxy replied.
Gregory smiled and rested the back of his head against Roxy’s chest. “It’s really pretty.” Gregory told her.
“I can see that now.” Roxanne reacted.
Gregory looked at the different stars, and noticed how some of the stars were brighter than the others. Though Gregory has seen the stars hundreds of times before, seeing Roxy react to the stars for the first time made this moment extra special. It made him appreciate the stars even more.
Gregory looked down at Roxy’s hand, and wrapped his own hand around her hand. He spent some time holding her hand and rubbing his thumb on the smooth metal. He spent some time studying the top of Roxy’s hand.
Her hand was so detailed. It had joints and nails, and different colors for the middle versus the fingers. The palm was a lighter gray, while her fingers were white and curved like one of those old Apple mouses. The nails were a lime green, that greatly contrasted compared to the white and gray hand. They looked like something a city girl would get. And to his surprise, they were not sharp. They were curved as well, so her nails don’t cut a child in the process. It was so intricate…So detailed.
“See something you like, kid?” Roxy asked.
Gregory nodded. “I do.” Gregory replied. “I like your nails. They’re really pretty.” Gregory told her.
“Thank you. I like them too. My toes have green nails as well.” Roxy added.
Gregory smiled. “I know that.”
Roxy looked back up at the stars while Gregory observed the palm of the hand. Her palm didn’t have any lines on it like he had. But she did have a slightly curved, vertical line surrounding the thumb joint and ending between the index and middle finger. Though Gregory and Roxy’s hands had one clear difference: Roxy didn’t have a pinky finger. She had only 3 fingers and a thumb, while Gregory had 4 fingers and a thumb.
“If you have only 3 fingers and a thumb, then how do you play the keyboard?” Gregory asked.
Roxy chuckled. “Well, you only need 3 fingers to make a chord, don’t you?” Roxy asked.
“I don’t know. I’ve never played piano.” Gregory admitted.
Roxy smiled and picked up her keyboard guitar from beside her. She placed it down on Gregory’s lap like a regular keyboard, and placed her hand on 3 lower piano keys. “This is a chord.” Roxy told him. “Three piano keys together, will usually make a pretty tune. The left hand is what plays the chords. And the chords are the background tunes for the melody, which is what the right hand plays.” Roxy explained.
Gregory nodded and placed his own hand on top of Roxy’s fingers, replicating her fingers. But because Gregory had 4 fingers, he had to improvise. Gregory placed his index finger on her index finger, his pinky finger on her third finger, and his middle and ring finger together on her middle finger. Lastly, he placed his thumb on Roxy’s thumb.
Roxy placed her right hand on the keyboard, and started playing one of the scales. She started off with playing A G and F, before moving her left hand to play the first chord: an E major. E, G# and B. With her right hand, she played F, G, A, A#, C, D, E, F…then, she played it backwards: E, D, C, A#, A, G, F.
“Whoa…You know that without looking at a book?!” Gregory reacted.
“For humans, it takes years of practice to get good at remembering scales.” Roxy told him. “But for an animatronic like me, it just takes a few minutes to process the coding.” Roxy admitted. “But I do know this:” Roxy looked at Gregory with a smile. “The person who wrote the coding, had to also know music theory in order to know what they were doing.”
Gregory smiled brightly at her. “Do you know other scales?” Gregory asked. “Or other chords?”
Roxy nodded. “Yes to both. I know all 48 musical scales. I also know the 12 major chords, and the 12 minor chords.” Roxy told him. “Though I can’t play all of the chords or scales here. A normal piano or keyboard has 88 chords, while my keyboard has only 36 keys.” Roxy added.
“Your keyboard only has 36 keys?” Gregory clarified.
“That’s right.” Roxy replied. “36 keys in all. 36-49 keys is typical for a keytar.” Roxy added.
“Keytar…is that what this is called?” Gregory asked.
“Yes. This is called a Keytar.” Roxy replied. “A KEY-board Gui-TAR.” Roxy sounded it out.
“Interesting…” Gregory replied.
Gregory picked up the surprisingly light keytar, and placed it down onto the ground beside him. Gregory then grabbed Roxy’s left hand, and decided to study it next.
“This hand is identical to my right hand. So…I don’t know why you want to see the other one.” Roxy told him. “I know…Just curious.” Gregory replied.
Roxy felt as Gregory continued to examine her hand. The touch was starting to make her tired a little bit. She was starting to realize how…surprisingly relaxing getting examined can be. SHe began to remember some of the parents' conversations about massages and how it was supposed to help their aching muscles and help them relax for a while. Is this what a massage is supposed to feel like? Just…soft? And calming? And- “EEEEP!”
Roxy could’ve easily jumped about 5 feet into the air! What was THAT?! Roxanne covered her snout as she recognized the squealing voice to be her own.
“Whoa! I’m sorry! Did I hurt you? Did I tickle you? What happened?” Gregory asked, looking up at her with slight worry, but mostly curiosity.
Roxy looked at Gregory out of the corner of her eyes, and looked down. “Uhhh…” She removed her hand from her snout. “No…you didn’t hurt me.” Roxy replied.
Gregory looked down. “Oh…Then, did I tickle you?” Gregory asked next.
Roxy stuttered. “I-What?! Uh-no! No way! Why would that…ya know…” Roxy struggled to say the word.
“...Tickle?” Gregory repeated.
“Yeah, that.” Roxy replied, pointing to him.
“If it didn’t tickle, then why are you stuttering?” Gregory asked. “And why can’t you say the word ‘Tickle’?” Gregory asked next.
Roxy groaned and covered her face. “Shuuuuush…”
“Why? Are you bluuuuushing?” Gregory asked with a smirk. “Blushing like a girl who blushes?” Gregory teased.
Roxy grabbed Gregory’s sides and started tickling him. “I can say tickle quite well, thank you. Now shut up, and laugh like your life depends on it.” Roxy ordered.
Gregory quickly gripped the outside of her hands as he threw his head back in uncontrollable laughter. “HEHEHEHEHEY! WAHAHAIT, NOHOHOHO! IHIHIHI’M SOHOHORRYHYHYHY!” Gregory told her.
“Awww, poor Gregory. So ticklish! And nowhere to go.” She teased. “How will he ever get free?” She asked next.
“IHIHI KNOHOW YOHOHOU’RE BLUHUHUSHING RIHIHIGHT NOHOHOW!” Gregory told him.
“Am not! Since when does a girl like me blush?!” Roxy asked.
“YOHOHOU HAHAVE TICKLIHIHISH PAHAHALMS!” Gregory argued.
“So? It looks like you’re more ticklish than me. And all I’m doing is squeezing!” Roxy reminded him.
“AHAHAHAM NOHOHOHOT!” Gregory yelled.
“Are too!” Roxy then let go of Gregory and grabbed his palm. “Now let’s see if you’re ticklish on your palm.” Roxy decided.
“I’m not ticklish there. Why would I be ticklish there?” Gregory asked.
Ready to know the answer, Roxy started skittering her nail on Gregory’s palm. And Roxy dropped her jaw in surprise when he heard it:
“Pfft…Pffft-”
Gregory was holding his laughter in! “Well would you look at that, Mr. I’m-Not-Ticklish-There?” Roxy teased.
“Pfffft-Hehehehehe! Ihihihi- Ihihi-” Gregory reacted.
“You didn’t know? Is that what you’re about to say?” Roxy teased.
“Ihihi dihihidn’t knohohohow! Ihihi swehehehear!” Gregory admitted.
Roxy chuckled. “Are you lying to me?” Roxy asked.
“Ihihihi-” Gregory tried to say.
“Are you really lying to your mother?” Roxy teased with a smirk on her face.
“Ihihi’m nohohot!” Gregory told her.
Roxy sighed and shook her head, before skittering her 3 fingers all over Gregory’s palm.
“eeEEEEHEHEhehehehehe!” Gregory giggled. “Ohohohokahahay, mahahaybe Ihi dihihid.” Gregory finally admitted.
Roxy nodded and removed her tickling hand. “I knew it. I knew it the whole time. Now do you know what happens to liars?” Roxy asked.
“Ihihi…Yeah…I do.” Gregory replied.
“What happens?” Roxy asked, smirking before she wiggled her fingers. “This is your hint. What happens?” Roxy asked again.
“Ihihi gehet tickled?” Gregory replied.
Roxy nodded and started tickling his belly and sides right away. “Bingo! Now laugh it up, little liar!” Roxy declared.
Gregory doubled over and bursted out cackling right away. Roxy tickled and scratched at his belly first, before scribbling up to his ribs, and up to the armpits. “Try to keep your arms up!” Roxy encouraged as she scritched in his armpits.
Gregory squealed and shook his head back and forth as laughter completely took over. He was trying so hard to keep his arms up, but already he could feel them slipping down very slowly.
“Oooooh! You’re struggling!” Roxy teased. “Would you like some help?” She asked next.
Gregory giggled and nodded his head. “Yehess plehehehehease.” he replied.
“Alright. But remember that you agreed to this.” Roxy reminded him as she grabbed Gregory’s right arm, held it up into the air, and started tickling his right armpit.
Gregory threw his head back and cackled in big bursts all over again. “WAHAHAHAHAHA! WAHAHAHAIT- THAHAHAT’S NOHOT WHAHAT IHI MEHEHEANT!” Gregory protested.
“I know.” Roxy replied. “Are you gonna call me a cheater next?” Roxy asked.
“CHEHEHEHEATEHERRR!” Gregory shouted.
Roxy guffawed. “I KNEW you would say that!” she reacted, proud of herself.
Gregory was tickled for only a few more minutes until Roxy deemed it time to stop. She removed her fingers from his armpit, lowered Gregory’s hand down, and picked up Gregory like a mother would pick up her child. “What do you say we head inside and warm you up?” Roxy asked.
“Yeah…maybe.” Gregory replied, shivering as a gust of wind blew by him. “But how can I be this cold if I was just tickled?” Gregory asked.
“Sometimes the chill of the night is too cold for the body to regulate. So, the body gets overwhelmed with cold.” Roxy explained. “And even though tickling burns the same amount of calories as a swift half-mile walk, it may not have been enough to regulate your body heat.” Roxy added.
Gregory nodded and rested his chin on Roxy’s shoulder. “Okay.”
Roxy took Gregory into the pizzaplex and felt as though the slight warmth of the pizzaplex covered Gregory like a blanket…Then Gregory looked down and realized that there was actually a fuzzy blanket wrapped around him. It was a dark blue blanket with white stars on it, suggesting it was the Daycare Attendant’s blanket. Specifically, Moon’s blanket.
“Gregory looks sleepy.” Another familiar female voice said.
“Yeah…You’re right, Chica. it’s going to be bedtime for him soon.” Roxy told her.
“That makes sense. Humans need to sleep. Especially growing kids.” Chica added. “What do you say we set him up on your purple couch?” Chica asked.
Roxy smiled. “That sounds like a great idea.” She told her.
“Okay. I’ll grab that Freddy Fazbear pillow pet and bring it to your room.” Chica told her.
Roxy nodded and rubbed Gregory’s back as she started to walk to her own room. She opened the door to her room, walked up to her purple couch and placed Gregory onto the couch. She wrapped the blanket around him a little bit better, and watched as Gregory hummed sleepily. Chica walked into the room with the unfolded pillow pet, and placed the pillow pet under Gregory’s head. Gregory was growing more and more sleepy by the second. And he didn’t mind. Not at all.
Roxy gave Gregory a little kiss on his forehead, and moved his bangs behind his ear. “Good night, Gregory.” She said softly.
Gregory smiled and opened his eyes. He lifted himself up and planted a kiss right on her black nose. “Good night, Mom.” Gregory replied.
Roxy smiled brightly and cooed upon hearing him call her ‘Mom’. It was so sweet she could’ve easily bursted! What did she do to deserve this kid?! She truly had no idea.
A few seconds later, Roxy finally got up onto her feet and walked to the door. She turned off the lights in her room, and gave him one last sincere look as she closed the door as quietly as she could. And to the left of the door, Roxy sat herself down and kept guard. With the boy now considering her a mother, she now felt the need to protect that role ーand that boyー with every ounce of her being.
And she was determined to do just that.
