Almost done with Ch 5 - Controlling The Narrative Pt 2
*just me blogging my fic progress again. It's done, but being edited still, should be up tomorrow: Voyeuristic Wheeler Ch 4
Had to take my time since this is the smuttiest chapter, where the first in-person sexual encounter happens, and a dynamic gets established. Both characters are being written as switches based on their personal development.
As I wrote it, what's playing out is very strong dom /sub dynamics. Will is the emotional manipulator, and Mike is the manipulated.
Will is the Dominant-Reactive / Phys Submissive / Control-Bottom
In Chapter 4, Mike is the one left in handcuffs. They are "continuing their campaign," which isn't actually a campaign, but a play by Will to force Mike into a position of emotional vulnerability via a loaded die. In Chapter 5, a handcuffed Mike wants Will to lead him on an Easter Egg Hunt for the cuff key & an envelope containing the next part of the "game". It will contain the game & Mike's secret smutty story, which Will stole. Will is testing the waters by having Mike physically bound, gauging reaction, but also manipulating Mike into a corner to get him to confess his sexual desires for him. Aka Will is a menace in this fic, guys.
Mike is Submissive-Reactive / Phys Dominant / Service-Top
Mike caves to Will's manipulation; he never controls things emotionally due to his lack of self-awareness. He's in a psychologically submissive role because of where he is in life, his fear of his sexuality, and his fear of Will leaving him behind. So, even though he likes to dominate on the surface, he fears intimacy and vulnerability. Mike ALSO has a hard time with eye contact/ being seen, which is how he develops his Voyeurism. Denying eye contact is a huge part of this fic.
On the other end, Will craves it and needs reactions. Ultimately, his need for emotional exposure shows he long-term holds the deeper interpersonal power in the relationship.
Now, translating this in the bedroom has actually been kind of tricky. Without spoiling much, Will is enacting a lot of psychological provocation towards Mike, and honestly? It's kind of satisfying to write.
Excited to see where this goes. I have to paint their headspace during the intimacy a little more, but a chapter should be up SOON. It's super kinky, but I'm trying to write it as naturally as possible.

When Will falls back on the bed, he sighs and flips the envelope against his chest. He rips it open, then hands it to Mike, “Here,” he exhales quietly, eyelashes fluttering, “It’s the next part of the campaign.”
Mike lies next to him on his side with one arm extended, his head cradled in his palm. He can feel Will’s eyes on him as he reads softly, “Ask 5 questions each as the Cleric and the Paladin. An answering player can choose to either answer or take a shot. If the answering player chooses to not answer (drink), they must make a d20 roll. —” Mike stares starkly at Will, whose face is soft with restrained curiosity. Mike continues, “—If the roll is less than 10, they fail, and the questioning player is granted another question. If the roll is greater than ten, they do not need to answer the question. The first person to get all five of their questions answered. Wins. The losing player must perform an action of the winning player's choice.”
An action of their choice? Mike sifts through the other three pages in the envelope. When he peels back a page, he sees a title written in his typewriter’s font: “’ Carpe Diem’ by Mike Wheeler”.
Will turns his face to look at Mike, the crook of his neck and Adam’s apple bobbing as he mumbles, “I think it’s no surprise… given last night’s role play — I read it.”
“I knew you did.” Mike whispers, heat flooding his face. He chews the inside of his lip. His eyes avert from the weight of Will’s gaze, “Give me the bottle. I’ll go first.”
Mike pulls the cork free with his teeth. He lifts the vodka bottle and takes a long swallow, eyes nervously dancing everywhere else but Will, the contents and his thoughts swirling. His thumb circles the rim of the vodka bottle as he mutters, “Why did the Cleric steal and read the Paladin’s erotic story?”
Will’s eyes drift to Mike’s, restless, “The stack of papers on the Paladin’s desk grew higher and higher, but I thought it was strange he never showed me what he was writing. I caught a glimpse one day and thought I’d do exactly what the title says, ‘Seize the day’”
Mike's eyes are glued to his hand, speechless.
Will’s pinky finger tentatively extends towards Mike’s arm, “…Are you mad?”
“I don’t know.” Mike’s thumb combs the neck of the bottle. He holds it tight to his chest, thinking, “I should be… but I’m not.”
Will’s eyes search his friends unreadable expression, “That’s — a relief.”
“Yeah, it is.” Mike nods, swallowing hard, then looks at Will with a pained expression. “Ok. My turn. Ask a question.”
will and mike switch and that’s final. they’re both too nuanced of characters to fit STRICTLY in top or bottom, and they both want to be full of/fill the other person, but i do think will bottoms more often than he tops. with that, i think he’s more power bottom, but 100% gets submissive, and mike is a service top/sub top, who babbles mindlessly on and on about how beautiful will is, how well he takes it, how they were made for each other, and he can’t believe will is letting him make him feel so good. they both cry the first time they have sex and it’s a pretty long session because of it, with cuddling and kissing sprinkled in between, and love confessions
It’s up! Mike is watching from afar and rising up for his Cleric. He’s ‘preparing’ himself, traversing the moat, and another kind of castle is about to be breached. 👀
Summary: That night, Will orchestrates an elaborate voyeuristic scenario that forces Mike to confront his desires and fears about being truly seen.
When Mike finally sneaks into Will’s room through his window, their intimacy turns psychologically k1nky and domineering, with Will drawing confessions out of him about his shame, his love, and the guilt he’s carried since Lenora and El’s death.

excerpt: At 10:00 pm that night, Mike stared at the ceiling listening to “Mote” by Sonic Youth. It screeched into an instrumental at the midway point on his record player; His thoughts swirled in his imagination to wailing guitars and a sultry male voice egging him on, “You're just in time to watch the fire burn. It seems a crime, but your face is bright, you love it. All the time”.
Images from last night replayed in his mind. Will’s moans. His soaking wet face. His arched back. The shorts. The yearning look. The want. His as*. He’d do anything to possess and earn that. It was time to ‘show what he could do’.
He knew Will took one of his Carpe Diem drafts, but certainly not his most recent one — the one where the Paladin ‘prepares to prove his worth’, baring it all for the Cleric. Physically, emotionally, and sexual**.
Mike’s wants and needs had been spinning out of control for months, like a chariot rushing down a hill, about to reveal itself at any moment. Now, with Will holding the reins and telling the story, he was terrified. It was out of his hands. A leap of faith. In Chapter 5, The Cleric plundered for what The Cleric desired, not the Paladin. And Mike knew that what the Cleric desired, deep down, was what Mike feared the most.
Being seen.
When the record ended, Mike tiptoed out of his bedroom, careful not to wake his parents or Holly, who were sound asleep from their return journey. He closed himself inside the bathroom, with a soft click, avoiding the mirror entirely.
He’d only ‘prepared’ once in his lifetime, for his own self-pleasuring, but Chapter 5 was no light matter. Preparation? a necessity. He sat on the toilet, pants at his ankles, using the end of a water-filled plastic water bottle to clean himself for his Cleric’s grand entrance.
