Kicking down the door with 30 min left on Wolfman (2025) and honestly????

Maybe I'm biased but it's actually pretty good? Like I saw a video essay about it because that's usually accessible first but they were talking about how it fell short of a few things (from what i recall, no citations cause I can barely recall).

Like yeah, some of the lines have the writing of This Is About/For The Adult despite the line being like?? Comforting a child? Like we see a lot of dialogue that is really just for the parents, just as in kids' media parents say childish things.

And some of the exposition is really hamfisted and the like getting us started. I could've used some better writing for emotionally complex scenes of dialogue/premise.

But my god the themes of generational trauma and ending the cycle and just the passion of family in the midst of hurt and horror is phenomenal. Like I'm a sucker for werewolf movies and those tropes, don't get me wrong.

The idea that something irreversible(?) happens and you still hold your core beliefs because they are strong enough regardless of obstacles?? Like!!!!!!!! Gratifying, wish-fulfilling. I am chef's kissing the emotions this gross lil movie is making me feel.
