Ooh pretty quickly, I'd say, but I was definitely sold when we got to their shadows

Surprisingly, I don't read a lot of dmmd fanfiction (you'd think I would but...)

5. Why is 1 so important?
Oh no ok
No matter how you read it, there's no doubt that they truly love each other. More importantly, it's pretty obvious that they're each the most important person in the other's life. Akihiko fights tooth and nail to keep Shinjiro in his life and Shinji worries about Aki constantly. Much of Shinji's social link is centered on Aki and his relationship with him. One of the primary goals of s. links is to learn/understand the other character, so the fact that Aki has such a strong presence in Shinji's link proves that Aki himself is incredibly important to who Shinji is and what his character is about. They grow, grieve, and fight together, even though they're often apart. There's this deep bond between the two that's pretty rare in any relationship, whether it's romantic, platonic, fictional, real, or otherwise. The mutual care, concern, and love between them is unquestionably genuine. I guess it's important because of that- it's a genuine, believable love.

all of them After Battle of the Five Armies, I've gotta say bagginshield

Probably AkiShinji or kouao (which are very similar ships, so it makes sense)

Oooh I used to follow like ALL the kouao blogs (but lately I've unfollowed a few and people have moved on to other things so)

In their universe? KouAo. In mine? Bagginshield I've shipped that since the first movie bye

Never they are together forever always (I guess you could count when Yukiko got suuuper busy with Inn stuff? But I don't count that so)

Oh definitely AkiShinjii I mean Aki's a trained fighter and future bara babe and Shinji has a fucking axe (oh and they have personas I guess)

If they did they did a bad job at it. Did you SEE the way Thorin looked at Bilbo throughout the last movie?

Probably bagginshield? Thorin's a great warrior and Bilbo's really cunning so I feel like they'd make a really good team.
