Squaletta Superbi hails from Loguetown on the Polestar Islands, a historic place known as the execution site of Gol D. Roger. She grew up as the daughter of Sergio Stanislao Superbi, a well-known merchant who secretly engaged in piracy. From an early age, Sergio guided her in the arts of swordsmanship and blacksmithing, instilling in her a passion for these disciplines that became the foundation of her life. His influence on Squaletta was crucial—he taught her not only how to fight but also how to perceive the world as a battlefield full of opportunities and challenges.

When travelling safely to transport goods, he would take her with him, but not on his "secret" journeys. Her father had numerous ties to the underground and many other useful connections across the world.

Squaletta's life changed dramatically when she was 14 years old. Her father was betrayed by his own allies on one of his transport journeys, and she was set to be sold into slavery. In a desperate escape attempt, she was forced to cut off her own left hand to free herself from the chains. This moment defined her—she showed the world that her will to live and fight was unbreakable.

Losing her dominant hand was both a psychological and physical wound for Squaletta. Squaletta refused to let it be an excuse for failure. She had to relearn swordsmanship almost from scratch—this time wielding her sword with her right hand. Despite this, she stubbornly refused any advantages that a prosthetic hand could provide. She had her own vision for the replacement, and she was truly stubborn about it.

Determined, she set out to create her own prosthetic hand. She spent years designing and perfecting the prosthetic hand that would replicate the functions of her original one as faithfully as possible. It took her several years to achieve the perfect design—one that allowed her to maintain her swordsmanship skills without anyone noticing the difference. Without any magical or technological advantage. She hated the thought of anyone pitying her and, even more so, the idea that her hand would command respect because of technology rather than her own strength. She is extremely hard on herself, especially in combat, where she considers swordsmanship a pure art and a matter of honour. She usually wears a glove on her left hand to conceal her prosthetic hand.
