I love it when Glimmer and Adora share exactly zero braincells
Sometime at work, my boss handed me an envelope, which I proceeded to open while walking to my office. Dissatisfied with essentially ripping it all unevenly using my hands, I decided I should do the reasonable thing and grab something shaped much more akin to a letter-opener than my index finger.
Passing through a colleague's workspace, I, not thinking much (or at all, indeed), spotted an antique rapier on a rack, took it, and sliced the envelope open in one perfect cut.
Pleased with the result, I put the rapier back and was just about to exit the room when all of a sudden, I heard the bemused voice of my colleague: "I have scissors, too, you know."
It honestly had not crossed my mind to simply ask my colleague to borrow their scissors. That long, historic stabby stick with the sharp edges was perfectly suited to the task, after all. I feel obligated, however, to remind any of you Gentle Readers not to try this at home, please.
another thing Dragon Heart did right- the practice sword fight used WOODEN swords.
IM SO SICK OF SEEING AND READING ABOUT PEOPLE SWINGING ACTUAL SHARP BLADES AT EACH OTHER JUST FOR 'training' OR FOR A 'test' EVEN THE ERAGON BOOK DID BETTER THAN YOU, NUMEROUS UNNAMED PIECES OF MEDIA!!!
The BFS squad is hilarious because at any given moment one of them is suffering because of the other two.
Sword Safety
Continuing to work through my Catradora withdrawals since the show finished with a quick 200 words of silly fluff and thought I might as well share it. Hope you enjoy.
Adora burst into the bedroom to find Catra, “I’ve just had an amazing ide... Catra, what’s wrong?”
Catra looked up from where she was sulking on the bed. She’d been thinking about the war and was glad Adora had pulled her from her thoughts.
“Hey Adora. It’s nothing. I was just thinking,” Catra sighed heavily and then added hopefully, “You should say something stupid. That usually cheers me up.”
“I can’t just say stupid things on cue,” Adora returned sadly.
Catra slumped back, “Fine. What’s your idea? That’ll probably work.”
Adora beamed despite herself as she was reminded of her crazy plan, “Okay. I was playing with my sword and I realised it was just like a big knife...” She started snort-laughing as the plan went through her mind.
Catra waited patiently for her to regain control.
“Okay, what if I ate my dinner with my sword?” Adora finally managed.
“That’ll do it,” Catra beamed, forgetting her earlier troubles, “Let’s try it.”
The two scampered off in the direction of the kitchen.
“Adora! What did you do to the dining table?” Glimmer’s cries could be heard throughout the halls of Bright Moon.
“Sword safety!” Bow’s squeal of horror immediately followed.
Chapter 12 of Prince Bow and Archer Glimmer is up!
Adora leaves to go find the Beacon and begin her training and Glimbow finally have a chance to talk.
aka Tippen temporarily sinks the ship again because I only write slow burns, deal with it
Read on AO3 or FF.net.
Rose swings her sword gracefully and jokes about those caring about "sword safety". This is a sort of reference to that one She-Ra episode ("The Beacon") when Bow is horrified when Adora or Glimmer don't care about sword safety... at all, especially after Adora throws her sword into a wall.
Bow DOES NOT get paid enough for this
