An analysis of Needle's character in BFDIA and why I'm rooting for her to win!

BFDIA has been a long, fantastic season and I'm delighted with the final two!!! My two favourite characters in the whole show!!!

As somebody who's been a huge Needle fan for over 6 years I'm rooting her on to victory! This season transformed her character for the better and never would I have ever expected for my girl to actually have a chance at WINNING a BFDI season! Truly a big honour!

Going into BFDIA Needle didn't have much, she was sporty, driven and a bit of hothead who didn't appreciate a nickname that undermined who she was, however, BFDIA is a season that cared for it's characters and we got to see a major expansion of Needle's, her competitiveness and eagerness to help her team became driving forces of her story, we saw a strong girl chasing the acknowledgement of her work. She hopped across all the teams, having fun with everyone and bending over backwards to seek the approval of those around her, for them to see her worth, but at the cost of herself. She nearly sacrificed her own game to gain approval.

After nearly getting herself eliminated, Needle ends up without allies and playing a challenge alone, there she realises that the person she wants to play for is herself. Gone with her worth being based off the approval of others. If she can win this alone it'll prove that was she competent all along, she won't just be someone's else friend, she won't just be Needle, she'll be the winner!

She stood her ground and pushed everybody else away, she would win for herself and herself alone. Yet in the missions she and the people around her had to prove themselves, they tore eachother apart, pushed their friends away and ended up alone. She wanted to be defined through her own actions but why be perceived if you reject others? Yet she finds that people want to support her, not because it'll make her worthwhile to them but because she is worthwhile to them, they like her and there she realises that she doesn't want to win for friends, she wants to with with her friends.

In BFDIA 23 Needle and Tennisball tear eachother part in their desperation for immunity and end up costing eachother and themselves win. Over the course of BFDIA 24 the two make the choice that instead of fighting to prove their worth, they will fight to be able to have fun with their friends.

BFDIA is a season about standing up for your values and Needle fits wonderfully inside the theme, her journey is one of discovering what you truly want. She goes from valuing the approval of others but at the cost of herself, she goes from valuing her own victories but at the cost of her friendships and their she finds what she truly values, having fun with her friends.

In BFDIA 24 she wasn't just baking a cake, she made time to spend with the people she enjoyed the season with from start to end, Needle isn't just going to wjn BFDIA for herself, she's going to win BFDIA with the friends she made along the way- (omg I just realised what I said)

The real Dream Island isn't that damn farm, it was the characters finding what they value and standing up for it.

Unfortunately, Needle is a character who isn't favoured by the out of order writing of the show, however we see that instead of tearing herself and those around her apart, she makes the decision to have fun with friends that value her for she is. Even cutting out those who never really valued her out of her life.

I want Needle to win BFDIA because she's been a favourite of mine for years and actually has a shot at victory, but also because the season expanded her character to new heights and she goes on a journey of discovering what she's really battling for, she found what she values and now stands up for it, after writing this all down I realise that maybe she doesn't need the win, she's found what's truly most important after all! BUT ALSO MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER WINNING WOULD BE SO PEAK OMGGG SO WOULD ANY CHARACTER WINNING GO ENTIRE CAST KF BFDIA SUCH A PEAK SEAOSN LET'S END THE SEASON IN A BANG AND FROLICK IN THE FLOWER FIELDS TOGETHER AAAAA🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Who Is Cure Eclair? Suspect 1, Kurusu Eriza. + Fusion Theory Thoughts

NOTE: TOY LEAKS ARE NOT ACCOUNTED FOR IN THESE POSTS.

The mystery of Cure Eclair has begun and our first suspect is Kurusu Eriza! My personal favourite character of the candidates! She is an author with a passion for mystery and is an aspiring detective herself! Could she be star detective, Cure Eclair herself though?

Evidence FOR:

1. Eriza already has a passion for detectives, she's a successful mystery book author and wants to be a detective herself.

2. She has shown to not only have a passion for detectives but the skills of one herself, she's shown observation, sleuthing and practical skills, such as when she successfully identified where Miko the cat had run off to and knew to figure out who stole her editor's phone.

3. Her BACKSTORY! She wanted to a detective but couldn't for unknown reasons... Just as how Cure Eclair was a detective PreCure who disappeared, likely lost her powers, never to be a PreCure again However, the Tome of Mirages has predicted otherwise and now Eriza is now realising her own dream of being a detective, returning to her dream, the two coincide don't you think?

4. She does have a catchphrase ready to go, "An unwavering heart fills the pages with truth, Star Detective, Cure Eclair!" Sounds good, doesn't it?

5. Her detective outfit is reminiscent of Shushutan but the design work for all the Eclair candidates are all tied to the characters, I felt like mentioning this but it's not something I'd push all that much.

6. Mentioned that if she were part of a duo, she'd likely be a Star Detective by now! Do you know who could've been a duo but ended losing their dreams after facing the Phantom Thieves alone, probably, LULUKA AND ECLA-

7. And she did recognise that the Anna and Mikuru had the same room layout but we're decorated differently, could be observation, could be familiarity she already had.

8. Nearly forgot such an important aspect, THE NAME! eclairs may be a dessert however they share the same name as the french word for a flash of lightning, Eriza is writer who's revelations and inspirations come to her in a flash, such as how the experiences with Anna and Mikuru strike her with flashes of inspiration for her stories. The name Cure Eclair is fitting for Eriza.

9. Cure Eclair is symbolised with blue butterflies, Eriza literally has blue butterflies in her hair.

EVIDENCE AGAINST:

1. Luluka seemingly KNEW Cure Eclair as a friend and lived with her in the detective agency, she has met Eriza but didn't have any reaction that evoked a sense of them having a past together.

2. Eriza does NOT seems to be on the ins and outs of the world of the CUREtto Detective Agency, confused about what Jett meant by Anna becoming a Pretty Cure, she was given a tour of the agency as if she needed to be shown what it had. She didn't even know how often the agency received visitors and most of all, that you needed to pass a test to become a Star Detective. You'd expect Star Detective, Cure Eclair to be familiar with all things CUREtto Agency, right?

3. While Shikuru may suffer from looking too much like Cure Eclair, Eriza feels too far from Cure Eclair, I know Mikruru has reds that lighten to pinks but the greens on Eriza feel too light to just transition to that lighter blue, I didn't even register Eriza as an Eclairling when I first saw the intro. Like heck I'm pretty sure that even during episode 2 I didn't view her as an Eclairling.

SUMMARY:

Eriza has all the pieces going for her to be a Pretty Cure, the drive, the emotions, the skills, the catchphrase, the story, however she lacks the knowledge of the CUREtto Agency and a connection to Luluka that Cure Eclair would have likely have.

How would I feel?:

I love Eriza! Would be happy for her to become Cure Eclair, wouldn't be upset if she didn't though, charming character with good stuff going for her as a character to fill in the shoes of a Pretty Cure. As artist and writer myself I do gear towards Cures with more creative passions like Peace, Papaya, Lilian and Prism! I don't feel as if Eriza will be Cure Eclair though, not alone atleast, this post still has one more section I would like to cover...

FUSION THEORY:

Many people believe the four candidates will fuse into the one Cure Eclair and I will touch upon that here, with points and my one glaring issue with the theory of all four being Cure Eclair in general.

Could it be that when Cure Eclair shattered the Makoto Jewel, she herself and her power was shattered, as a person she is no more but her power lies in four fragments... When she shattered, she was believed to be no more but now, the Tome of Mirages has predicted the return of the blue butterfly, searching to rest her wings from four flowers. However what if instead of following the Tome of Mirages as if it was eternally determined truth, another solution was found, the fragments of Cure Eclair's powers are found within four flowers, the four candidates. When the four fragments of power are awakened, the four wings of the blue butterfly will come together and fuse into the original Cure Eclair. The spirit of the girl before she shattered.

This would be very cool, but it'd also bloat the cast y'know, you'd be shoving four characters into the main group and they'd all be fighting for screentime in this seven character group. (Anna, Mikuru, these four + Luluka eventually) Sounds off, unless they're fused entirely as civilians but you'd just be axing four really well liked characters.

I do think fusion theory is cool in theory but I'd have to see it in action to determine how I truly feel about it.

The message of You And Idol PreCure (This post is glitched and I can't figure out how to give it a proper title onmg Aaaaaaaaa)

You And Idol PreCure isn't the strongest season of the series but I feel like something people get wrong about the season is claiming that it has no message.

It does!!! If PreCure is usually about being hopeful then You And Idol is about being hope itself and bringing light to people in times of need.

Uta is girl who liked to lift people up with her singing but was suddenly turned Idol sensation and warrior of light overnight, the hope of two worlds lying in her hands. Through her smiles and songs she brings happiness to plenty which helps them get through the toughest of times. (Not going to lie I've actually dissed Cure Idol alot😭😭😭 She's not all bad though)

It's also what made me so fascinated by Meroron while watching You And Idol, she is the themes of being hope, along with admiration and how it can turn toxic.

Meroron was fundamentally different than the rest of the Kirakiland fairies and was alone in the darkness, when Purirun became her light, she CLUNG onto it, actively doing whatever it would take to make sure Purirun was there to be said light, terrified of losing it. She also hated herself for pushing away the Idol PreCure away out of fear of them taking her light away. When she befriends the rest of the Cures she brings the hope that was given to her to help make the lives of others happier. (Loved Meroron but all this was soured by the show trying to pass her toxic traits off as cute :P Incredibly irresponsible thing to do imo)

Say what you will about the execution but Idol PreCure does have a message about how in dark, uncertain times, the most powerful thing you can do is take initiative and use your own happiness to bring smiles to people who need it.

I may be #TeamNeedle but Book is also my second favourite character in BFDIA and she also is a peak winner and an embodiment of the season.

I brought of a theme of BFDIA being finding what you value and standing up for it, Book is a perfect winner for this theme as she actually already had something she valued. Kindness. Helping others and bringing smiles. Despite how hard the world tries telling her to believe otherwise, despite how harshly she's treated she sticks to her beliefs, the worse everything gets the more dedicated she is to what she stands for.

Also this in contrast to Pin who also valued helping others and making friends but ultimately got treated with cruelty and decided to give the world cruelty back. Valuing giving back what the world gave you her.

This is also why Pin and Book would make a perfect final two lol, yeah this is Pin propaganda too I guess
