I read somewhere that it's possible the trilogy style movie format to tell stories will die with this star wars saga. Honestly? Good. I hope it dies and stays dead. The insistence on continuing stories that don't need to be told, dragging out issues and creating problems that don't need to exist, is why there's just so many bad movies now. Changing writers/directors for each part but not requiring that they all work on the Overarching Plot together to keep it consistent is what's killing movies. Capitalism can only make bad movies (don't try and tell me that this trilogy existed for anything other than more money).
I remember when TFA was first announced and I was SO excited to see a star wars movie IN THEATERS. I was so ready for plots and characters and developments that just never came to fruition. TFA is still the better of the two movies (that and TLJ) if a bit redundant.
This whole thing is just a mess. If star wars has to continue (which it likely will) it's clear the only stable parts of it are the ones that let stories die when they need to, that don't make hasty decisions and poorly thought out connections, and that don't focus on the Skywalker family.
