REASON FOR BEING ON FLIGHT 2015: Returning from Riley's hockey tournament

(TW: injury description)
Isaac never thought about being much more than what he was, just a small town boy who grew up helping in the family business and following his own ambitions to become an art teacher. And that was good enough, he was happy even if his life didn't feel as big as some.
It got bigger though.
With a man who carried the weight of the world on his shoulders but still had strength left for him. And their kids; a runaway searching for a soft place to land after a life of being failed time after time and a little boy lost with no home to return to.
His own little world right there, bright, colorful and everything he'd ever wanted.
It still feels like the most important thing he's ever done, being there for them.
So there was no question he had to be there to watch Riley excel at what they loved, even if he felt a little guilty leaving his youngest at home. It was just a short trip, and Riley had worked so hard to get that far so Isaac had started packing before it was even fully decided. He left his youngest in the care of one of his closest friends and promised everything would be just fine.
But he broke that promise.
The crash was terrible, only moments but those moments felt endless to him. He tried his hardest to stay calm for Riley, for his brothers and even Nick, but there was nothing he could do. And then he couldn't even try, because in a rush of violent chaos and pain, everything went dark.
Isaac knows the situation isn't good. The crash left destruction and uncertainty. And he has considered there might be dangers lurking. Danger to his husband, his kid, the brother he won't even consider not being alive somewhere on the island.
His injuries are substantial, already existing damage to his shoulder made even worse by the dislocation he suffered in the crash. He's had surgery in the past, he knows there's no easy fix in their current situation and his biggest worry about it might be hidden under the deep bruising. Fractures can be a problem, especially in an area he already has pins holding an unstable joint in place.
The pain is a constant presence and he's starting to feel tired doing just about anything, but he's determined to ignore it, he can't be useful as it is but he can at least not be more of a burden.
He has to hold it together, has to find a way to help and make sure things are okay. Nick can do a lot, and Riley is strong, but he has to make sure his family gets through the ordeal with as little damage as possible.
He's getting home, they all are.
Maybe the island can help, something keeps telling him it can. And if he has to listen to find the answer for him and Nick to get home to one of their babies and make sure their other one makes it back safe and sound too? To ensure his little brother is found?
All the lights in Miami begin to gleam
Ruby, blue and green, neon too
Everything looks better from above, my king
Like aquamarine, oceans blue
NAME: Dr. Robert King
OCCUPATION: Surgical Intern
SECTION: Fuselage
SURVIVAL SKILL: Medical training
MAGICAL SKILL: None
REASON FOR BEING ON FLIGHT 2015: On the way back from a medical conference at Miami Central University
PERSONAL ITEM: … a pack of Magnums…
PERSON OF SCIENCE/FAITH: Person of Science
BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Robert King was barely a doctor. He was just surrounded by them at a conference where the big names threw their weight around and he had to gawk at them for the sake of networking. Though, quite a few had done some good work. He developed some serious man-crushes on some of these guys. This week, his good work was limited to the numerous hotel rooms and clubs he saw the inside of. When in Miami, right? He had plenty of time to party and experience nightlife his small English town couldn’t dream of. His accent got him a long way with the locals and besides, Rob didn’t have a big talk to give or technique to pioneer at this point in his career. He knew he’d be the second most famous Dr. King one day…
Becoming a missing person on a missing plane was not how he wanted to accomplish that, though. And it really killed the potential he had to join the Mile High club on a paid work trip. Some shrapnel may have lodged itself in his body, he may now be laid up on a shitty beach with no piña coladas or cell service, but the Magnums survived and so did he.
NAME: Sally Finklestein
OCCUPATION: Unemployed
SECTION: Tail
SURVIVAL SKILL: None, officially… but she watched a lot of survival shows growing up a bubble kid! So she can theoretically help with survival tasks!
MAGICAL SKILL: Medical Marvel - Sally had a heart condition when she left Miami… she doesn’t anymore?
REASON FOR BEING ON FLIGHT 2015: Sally is on her way back home from a visit to a world renowned cardiologist in Miami. The prognosis was not good…
PERSONAL ITEM: Her bag of medicines. Unfortunately a lot of them washed away in the wreckage.
PERSON OF SCIENCE/FAITH: Person of Faith
BIOGRAPHY:
Sally was always sick with something. Sick with worry, with grief, with a broken heart. Her heart was made from a broken cast, never being whole in the first place. This was supposed to be the trip that saw an end to the constant hospital visits and loneliness. (Her only real companion was her overprotective service dog, Fang.)
Except the best doctor they could find told her she was irreparable.
The surgery that was promised was called off, her heart couldn’t take the stress. Management was all she had to live with. So she flew back home, much higher than her dashed hopes of living a normal life. At least, the plane was higher until it took a swan dive into some twisted island. Sally woke up with red exit signs lit up across her face and Fang laying across her back.
How cruel that she can survive a plane crash to see her soggy med bag half washed away by the tides. If her doses went up as they were supposed to, Sally had about forty eight hours until she was blue and gasping. Unless some higher power intervenes on her behalf, she is looking at a pretty pathetic ending.
A red mountain among hills and houses. That’s what Rokingr became with the strength of his bond with Jhunsvoszhâda. Before her, he laid dormant for decades, waiting. The egg was larger than most, a rippling red ember glowing from beneath onyx scales. Those with weaker hearts avoided placing their trembling hands on his shell. Good. He didn’t want them anyway. He would have waited eons, for the next generation hardened by the next war after this tepid time of peace in Swyngaesia.
He waited for a headstrong, budding powerhouse to approach before he chose. Jhunsvoszhâda believes she chose him, but Rokingr wouldn’t have bonded to anyone else. A twin flame they had found in the other, kindled and kept by their own burning desires to be the best. To make history. Rigorous training and growth brought them to this competition. It was a small step in their trek up the mountain of power, but a step nonetheless. If his rider was going to be the Commander of the Order, they would need a great show of strength and force of will in this tournament. Rokingr would bring his best claw forward and let no distractions slip between them and their rightful place at the top.
