Palm Springs Magic || Sydney & Marcus
Marcus hadn't been to Palm Springs since that fateful night his father had come down and dragged him away to Re-Education. Though he had seen Clarence since then, and even Tamara - though that hadn't gone very well - he had come to find he'd missed the old man. He always missed Tamara, though he hated himself for it. What she'd done had been more than break his heart; she'd destroyed his life and it was her fault they'd killed his mother. How could you forgive someone for that?
But now, he found himself strolling up the gravel drive of Clarence's old house. It was just as he remembered it, the timbers crooked, the paint peeling. There was another car in the drive, one he didn't remember. A station-wagon; brown and shinny. Maybe Clarence got a new car, he thought. Though, he remembered the old man being dreadful behind the wheel. Tamara and Lee would never let him drive. That was when he remembered Tamara and Lee would both be a lot older than last time he'd seen them; Tamara a mere two years younger, Lee would be three years older than him.
His nerves were gnawing at him. What would seeing Tamara and Lee again be like? Would they remember him? Would Clarence? He hoped so. Otherwise it'd be significantly awkward. When he reached the door, he took a moment to collect himself before knocking. And now, we wait.
