North Sydney’s Preliminary New Year’s Eve 2026 Viewing Areas Confirmed

North Sydney Council has confirmed its preliminary footprint for Sydney New Year’s Eve 2026, giving visitors some useful early information about where celebrations are expected to operate.

The currently confirmed locations are:

• Bradfield Park • Blues Point • Lavender Bay Parklands • An accessible viewing area at Milsons Point Wharf

There are also several important restrictions to know.

Waverton Park and Cremorne Point are presently described as providing toilets only—not confirmed managed fireworks-viewing locations.

Balls Head Reserve and the Coal Loader are expected to be closed for New Year’s Eve.

The accessible viewing area at Milsons Point Wharf is a useful early confirmation, but its 2026 application, ticketing and access arrangements have not yet been announced.

Travellers should also be careful when reading the Council’s current page. Although its opening section confirms the preliminary 2026 locations, much of the remaining information concerns 2025. Previous capacities, opening times, admission rules, ticket arrangements and transport conditions should not be presented as confirmed for 2026.

North Sydney Council says more detailed information is expected by October 2026.

Hotels in Circular Quay, The Rocks, Barangaroo, North Sydney and other harbour areas can be excellent choices, but always verify the exact outlook before paying.

Rightfully, this is mostly what the Australian news looks like this morning. But it’s still weird how they went ahead with the fireworks last night (even if they had already spent money preparing it) when they could’ve diverted the rest of the funds still available to the fire services, volunteer funds, wildlife orgs, etc. Also, the fires are getting worse all along the east coast, and looks like it won’t end anytime soon - but the PM still doesn’t want to change his climate change policy, not that I trust the Labor Party to be any better, no matter what they say.  Australian Bush Fires: how to help.
