Why don’t you ship it?

I have an issue with Cayde ships in general. I dunno, it's just hard for me to see him getting together with anyone; there are so many characters people ship him with and honestly I never vibed with any of them. Maybe it's due to that passage in The Man They Called Cayde, how his Queen was his memory of love and his understanding of it only existed through her--I've always felt he had a heart only for her, whether she was real or not (she was).

What would have made you like it?

I think it's really the question of me struggling to see Cayde with *anyone*, so I don't know? I just can't align my brain with the concept of Cayde having a contemporary romantic partner lmao

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

Whatever you interpret their bond to have been like, it was certainly strong and unique and hhhhhhh THIS,,

“Timur?” Siddhartha asked softly.

Timur looked at him and, in the dark, his eyes looked black. “You should get out of here,” he said. His voice sounded wrong. Tight and wavering.

Siddhartha sat up. “I’m not leaving you,” he said.

Timur closed his eyes, turning his head away. He shuddered, grunting quietly as he dropped his head into a hand, pressing fingers against his forehead, trying to quell some pain. Or perhaps quiet a voice.

Siddhartha moved to sit in front of him and put a hand under his chin gently, tilting his face back up. Timur looked at him and Siddhartha was struck by his expression.

I met it at the gate of the garden and I recall it smiled at me—

"Are you absolutely sure I can't convince you?"

Andal tipped his head, smiling at the exo above him. He cupped Cayde's jaw in his hand.

"Well... I admit it's gonna be a little hard for me to get to that Consensus meeting with an exo pinning me down."

The light in Cayde's cheeks glowed brighter--an exo smile. Combined with the slight narrowing of his eyes, it was a mischevious one.

"Yeah, can't think of a way out of that one," Cayde said, not making any move to get off Andal's lap. "Damn shame."

Andal shifted his hand, tugging Cayde's head down and kissing him. There were still several minutes until the meeting was scheduled to start, he had time to indulge the exo. Cayde pushed him back into the chair just slightly, his hands speaking of some impatience though he followed Andal's pace. He knew the Hunter Vanguard was tired, he'd been almost non-stop busy since the Twilight Gap, leaving him very little time for Cayde. So he would have to be content with what time they had and what energy Andal had.

Smiling into the slow, indulgent kisses, Andal looped his arms over Cayde's shoulders, relaxing even more, until the moment was broken by a lightly annoyed sigh.

Andal tipped his head back. "My Ghost says I'm going to be late," he murmured.

"Fine," Cayde said, his voice incredibly put-upon as he reluctantly got up and offered a hand to Andal, pulling him to his feet and straight into another kiss, eliciting a quiet laugh from the Vanguard.

"I'll be back later, I promise," Andal said, punctuating it with another light kiss, before stepping away and vanishing in a transmat.

Tbh I barely remember the original lore entry besides the ending (since I've mostly skipped everything until Timur appeared and then got way too excited to remember anything before that asdfghsdjg), so I've read it almost as a new work 😅 Timur sure feels quite different here, still himself, but a little less... talkative and genuinely cheerful, probably? Which is fair I guess, since he obviously has more things to worry about in this AU. I really like how you've played that famous head scene, Timur using his ~extra~ skills there was actually super clever and badass!

Also Felwinter totally should've taken that room offer, just saying 👀

and yeah, I think timur as a warlord would be a more serious person actually probably quite similar to shaxx, since he would have a lot more responsibility and people to worry about. I think his normal cheer and talkativeness would come out the more fel got to know him though

although talkative adhd icon warlord would be incredibly entertaining as well...

"I didn't realize lightbearers could get sick."

Timur accepted the glass of water Felwinter had brought him, scowling as the exo sat down. "We shouldn't be able to," he hissed. "But someone is feeling petty and refuses to heal me."

His Ghost made no reply, pointedly ignoring him. Timur sipped at the water, trying to distract himself from his headache. Felwinter leaned forward, putting a hand to his temple, a touch of chilly metal against flushed skin. Timur exhaled, leaning into the touch.

"A little over 39 degrees," Felwinter observed. "If it keeps going up I'm going to threaten your Ghost myself. I'm not sure how useful your immune system is after being supplemented by Light for so long."

Timur forced a smile. "Worst comes to worst, I find a new way to die," he said. "Or I kill myself."

"I'd prefer it if you didn't," Felwinter said.

"Me too," Timur said. He downed the rest of the glass of water. "But I also prefer it when my Ghost does his job."

Felwinter took the glass and set it aside, shifting to sit alongside Timur, wrapping an arm around him. Timur turned, snuggling up against his side, pushing his face into Felwinter's neck. He was always cold to the touch except in those moments that he specifically overheated himself for Timur's comfort. At the moment, Timur was glad for the chill. Felwinter's hand pressed against his cheek, gently holding his jaw, thumb brushing over his cheekbone. Timur smiled.

"Although," he murmured, "I can think of a few worse ways to spend a day."
