The masked menace plaguing the city would certainly never stink up a CEO's air conditioning in his favorite car....

Thimbletack
December 2024 // pencil
A little study of Tony DiTerlizzi's design for Thimbletack, from Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You. I reread Spiderwick Chronicles last winter, and while the books are a lot shorter than I remember from when I was little, they're still so delightful to read, and DiTerlizzi's artwork is simply gorgeous - he's probably largely responsible for my love of field guides and the like.
Anyways, I'm really happy with this one, especially for only taking 30-40 minutes. I thought his eyes were a little weird at first, but I think they're growing on me :)

Protection Turtle
february 2025 // embroidery
A protection sigil I designed a while back, in the shape of a turtle. I embroidered it into my newest sketchbook to take care of my work.
The villain crumpled to the ground as the butt of his opponent's sword smacked him in the shoulder. That's going to bruise. His eyes drifted up to the man standing over him, whose muddy boot now stained the chest of the velvet robes beneath it.
"Too cowardly to actually turn your blade against me, and yet you've smitten me still. Well done, O Noble Knight."
The knight raised a brow, wary of any distraction and yet unable to resist. He knelt, letting a little more of his weight fall on the other man's chest.
"I think you mean smote. Smitten is not the past tense of 'to smite.'"
Two velvet-sleeved arms unpinned themselves quick as lightning, though they did not reach for a weapon. Rather, deft fingers tightly grasped the collar and chin of the knight and tugged him closer.
"Oh, foolish hero," the villain purred as he locked eyes with his assailant. "I meant smitten."
