On this day, May 2, 1944, exactly 75-years ago, the Nazis officially came to Mád, Hungary, where they gathered the 350 Jews who were left and held them in the synagogue for 3 days before transferring them to Auschwitz. Today I visited the rebuilt synagogue. At one point, 25% of the city’s population of over 4,000 was Jewish. Today there are no Jews left. But the synagogue is part of the pilgrimage of the Footsteps of the Wonder Rabbis. #hungary🇭🇺 #Mád #Jewish #neverforget #synagoguesofinstagram #synagogue #jewishheritage #footstepsofthewonderrabbis (at Mád) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw9jZoFJEip/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1p7eof4inz25h
