long answer: i didn’t really write anything in 2016.  i haven’t published anything new in almost 2 years, and i’m not sure when that’s gonna change.  i hate it, and i’m genuinely trying, but everything i write lately feels forced and reads terrible.  i want to finish that fic, as well as my other unfinished works, but i want them to be good, not just done.

edit: i really do appreciate the question.  it’s wonderful to know people are still reading/thinking about my fic.  feel free to ask me anything!

i was blazing through some of the tags b/c art and nostalgia and i saw some random meta about poor abused, broken azula. the last couple of lines caught my eye because it was like “zuko owes azula a hug so does ursa and so does kiyi”

@synapse-heart I'm glad someone gets me lol Its like on the one hand I want to explain like, how not letting these characters cry plays into toxic masculinity, how it robs rhe characters of interesting characterization and in some extreme cases (like Jon Snow), it destroys their entire personality, and how it also like, idk undersells the effect these experiences has on them, that they are going through some Traumatic Ass Shit and even the adults like Ned and Catelyn are under 40! Of course people including men cry!! But on the other hand I'm also like look you robbed me seeing Kit Harington drunkenly lose his shit in front of a bunch of people bc his life sucks. I expected Richard Madden snotting all over his beautifully red beard while holding his kid brothers hand in the dark. WHY DID SEAN BEAN NOT SOB WHILE HALLUCINATING HIS DEAR SISTER'S DEATH DAMN IT I have been CHEATED I demand compensation

I also love how they spend 2-3 sentences each discussing how Aang and Zuko reached the opinions they did but Suki’s opinion is reduced to the single word “indecisive.”
