book 11yo sansa: didn’t just beg for mercy—she argued that ned wasn’t in his right mind, drugged with milk of the poppy and badly wounded. she even reminded them of the long-standing friendship between robert and her father. and she did all of this in front of joffrey’s entire court. tell me again how she’s slow.
Unpopular opinion: The "anti Targaryens" debate always comes back to Dany and justifying D&D's choice to make her the "mad queen".
This is why we get weird ass takes about Rhaenyra and why Egg gets theories like "he decided to sacrifice his family".
The Targs are not allowed to have good or morally grey characters in their family because that proves that Dany is not doomed to be mad.
And, it's a disservice to both the Targs and the families they are propped up against ,usually the Starks, because what do you mean, you think the Starks are better when theirs family tree is also a circle due to the number of uncle/niece marriage and they are also colonizers ?
Also... How is having such a black and white mentality of the families interesting for you ? I love the Starks because they are messy.
You guys talk about the Stark's honor meanwhile I'm rooting for Arya and Jon to break their vow to the Night's watch and the faceless men for each other.
You wanted Cregan to follow Jace because of honor and I'm sitting there going: there were fucking friends. It had nothing to do with honor and everything to do with his friendship with Jace and he understood very much what it was like for someone to almost be usurped.
One of the most famous Stark in history said: fuck murdering all of my men, fuck honor, I would rather kneel to a Targaryen and he was right.
And those are in my opinion, people in the Stark family I would consider to be on the less morally grey side of the spectrum.
In conclusion: the Targs are not uniquely evil or mad because they were Targs, you are just trying to justify hatred toward Daenerys by hating her entire family (nobody says the same things about Jon, weirdly enough) and the Starks are messy.
People assume I’m a Dany anti because I’m an anti Targaryen restoration extremist but lowkey if you want Dany to sit on the iron throne you don’t like her at all

rereading dany's chapters is such an emotional rollercoaster bc on one hand she truly has one of the richest most engaging povs and some of the most fascinating and unique experiences from any character i've read or watched, on the other hand it fills my heart with even more hatred of That show and how it utterly butchered her character and twisted the perception of her into an entirely new person
one of the reasons why I HATE the "what do dragons eat, anyway?" "whatever they want" exchange from GoT, is not only because it shows an incredibly amount of entitlement from sansa towards both jon and dany (who have already contributed more individually towards the fight against the Others, and also for the good of the people that they rule, than sansa ever does in the whole show), but also because book jon and dany would have absolutely thought about these logistics. like, their arcs in adwd show an incredibly amount of consideration towards the 'boring' parts of ruling -- the resource management, the diplomacy, etc.
like jon was literally groomed for command by being mormont's STEWARD. and one of the first problems that dany faces as queen is the fact that she doesn't have enough food to feed her people.
it was just incredibly unrealistic for the show to put dany, jon, and sansa in a situation where sansa has to be the one asking the other two to think about problems of food and storage, because the real jon and dany would have come up with 20 different solutions for this by the time they reached the north.
I've been complaining about this overall "anti Targaryen", "anti dragon" campaing that hbo shows are pushing (ive seen it a bit in AKOTSK and more and more in season 3 of HOTD) and is not a theme that ive seen portrayed in the books (in the sense that in the books the Targaryens are not seen as an overall "evil" family by the people of westeros nor by the maesters)
and it just struck me that they have to keep pushing this narrative to justify Daenerys awful ending in GOT
because no matter how hard they hammer Aegon's prophecy, they fucked up aegon's prophecy in the main show, so now they have to make it look like the prophecy is another sign of "targaryen madness", and the seven kingdoms were seven peaceful realms before the evil dragon lords came to take it
what i find puzzling is why they keep making shows about characters they so clearly hate and see not as fucked up and complex individuals but as evil incarnate
I just know they're gonna fuck up Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys so much, my heart cant take it
