Syncbeat didn't really exist. They were one of the faux names used for the 1984 Street Sounds UK Electro LP, all of which were basically Liverpool/Manchester DJ Greg Wilson, with some friends (an A Certain Ratio, a Magazine, etc..). There was only one act on the LP, The Rapologists, that wasn't Wilson and co. That album also featured Wilson's proteges Broken Glass (still with Wilson doing a lot of the work) and their Prodigy-sampled track, Style Of The Streets.
For me though it was "Syncbeat" - Music that was the standout track. A 12" was released on Morgan Khan's parent label to Street Sounds, Streetwave, which is where I first heard it, transferred to a cassette a friend did for me that Christmas. His notation for the tune "one of the year's very best" not far wrong in my eyes. Found the album not so long afterwards and tried not to wear out that section (all the tracks were, naturally, mixed together).
