Hey. I'm writing a fic that has married todochako as a background pairing (they have a 2yr old daughter). I don't actually have an Ochako ships so I wanted to rarepair it up :) plus they look cute together. So I was wondering of you had any headcanons that could help me get a better feel for them together?

- Todoroki is the type of dad who wants to play with kids but ends up looking really awkward bc he doesn’t know how to actually play with them.- Ochako finds it adorable and it’s pretty vocal about him being “cute” (with her kurby smile and all that) however, Todo is like “No, kids are cute, I’m not.”- Let’s be honest here. Todoroki is the permissive and overprotective parent. He grew up most of his childhood only with his brother and sister (this is purely based on how the todoroki’s relationship works) and he might get used to spoil his kids.- Ochako will have none of this shit. If she doesn’t put limits on their household, nobody will.- Even though Todo will be like “Sorry son. Your mother’s word is law” he’ll be lowkey grateful for having such an amazing wife and will strive to be a better parent for their family sake.- Ochako will cry during her baby shower bc she’ll receive so much beautiful gifts for her baby and she thinks she doesn’t deserve it (Have you seen baby products? they’re are pricey as hell).- Momo made them a big ass crib with a disposable roof. Todoroki was like “you shouldn’t have” but she said “If your baby ends up inheriting Uraraka’s sleeping habits, the roof is necessary. Also is fire proof so have no worries.”- Uraraka was the one who lived one floor below Momo’s room so the latter was used to grab her at night or else, Uraraka will float away and who knows where it will end.- Todoroki is the one who goes to buy groceries since Ochako will find everything too expensive and shouldn’t waste money unnecesarily. Todoroki will be like “What. We are pro-heroes and I have money to buy stuff.”- Uraraka is the one who cooks mainly because Todoroki can’t cook a single thing for the love of God. However, when she came home tired from work, she’ll be greeted with an overcooked curry and rice, and her husband’s “I know it looks awful but it’s edible” face.- Couples that lift and train together, stay together.

Mod Todoroki and I discussed how their relationship dynamics operate since they come from polar opposite backgrounds and their understanding of what it means to be in a committed relationship.

That isn’t to say they’re not loyal or in-love with each other, contrary to the case, but it certainly affects how they solve the issues in their relationship as it comes up. So, without further ado; some headcanons.

The two seldom ever argue -- they never let anything become swept under the rug and communication is a huge factor in their relationship since Shoto tends to internalize his emotions, and unfortunately on occasions lash out. Ochaco is also perceptive and empathetic, so she tries to help encourage him to express himself more. Though at times he can go a bit far and hurt her feelings unintentionally, especially regarding how she carries herself as a Pro-Hero. He gets worried about her.

As far as having children goes, they most likely waited until their careers were strongly established (about 30) before settling down. Ochaco was very stubborn about taking maternity leave, but eventually relented to it. The two work, so they take turns taking care of the baby or ask Fuyumi to help with babysitting.

Their wedding was generally very traditional for a Japanese wedding; Ochaco really had no demands aside from wanting a Western Wedding dress, having her family visit for it, and of course, good food. Most of it was catered towards Shoto’s feelings, and when neither of them knew what they wanted, they consulted Fuyumi as a third opinion. They have a large album of their wedding, including a shot-by-shot take of Shoto when he first lays eyes on Ochaco in her wedding dress. He had a genuinely happy smile for the entirety of that night -- a smile that screamed “I am insanely in love with this woman and I’m the luckiest man on this planet.”

As I’ve most likely implied, the couple is very close with Shoto’s family (aside from Endeavor)! Natsuo, Fuyumi and even Rei (Shoto’s Mother) get a kick out of teasing them because of how well their relationship operates, and how Ochaco is an ideal wife. Rei adores Ochaco and immediately welcomed her.

One of Shoto’s fears revolves around becoming a second Endeavor, and he often tries to counteract that with being a strict, loving parent. Ochaco is more prone to be the overtly affectionate one as well as the homemaker. Shoto does take on some household responsibilities as to not swamp her with chores.

Speaking of Endeavor, the couple’s relationship is incredibly rocky, due to Ochaco’s knowledge of how he treated Shoto and the rest of his family and the protectiveness the two have over their child. They actually considered not letting Enji see his grandchild at all, but have relented to supervised interactions with either parent present or even Fuyumi.

Bickslow (and the rest of the Thunder Legion for that matter) deserve so much more love and attention than they get

I think of Bickslow as having had one night stands with everyone until meeting Rufus. Rufus is the calm and stable to Bickslow's wild and crazy.

Are major ships allowed as additional/background pairings?

I would say yes, as the focus of the work is going to be rare-pair centric! I don’t see why a major ship shouldn’t be allowed as background/minor ships.

Maybe it’s a fairy magic thing? Fairy Law wipes out everyone viewed as an enemy so maybe Ever’s fairy magic is fine for Bix because they’re friends? (which Bix probably bugs her endlessly about). I’m at work though and can’t really research so I’m pulling ideas out of my ass lol 

Wow, thanks for the really quick reply! That’s a pretty nice theory, I’d have never come up with it. Actually, this brings up another interesting question - does Ever’s Fairy Magic belong to the same category like Fairy Law, Fairy Sphere and Fairy Glitter? I’d say “no”, but the name sure does imply that. Though I never thought of it before. I had a similar theory about this, I thought it might be because White Magic needs to be used with the intention to cancel Black Magic to actually do that, which Wahl definitely did, but Ever usually doesn’t. I’m pretty sure though we’re overthinking things here...
